"So...I'm clearing you for reduced work. Meaning I want you to start of working shorter shifts and less of them during a week. I also want you to wear your specially made brace for the first few shifts and then if/when you need it from then onwards." Chris, Riley's physiotherapist told her and Chase.
"Great..." Riley said happily.
"BUT, please don't overdo it – if your knees starts to hurt of feel weak – please stop and rest. I've informed Chief Boden of my decision so he knows what you have to do. Just remember, slow and steady wins the race – if you push yourself too much you can end up back where you were in the beginning" Chris layyed on to the couple.
"I promise I won't" Riley joked. After finishing off with some exercises, Riley and Chase left together and headed to the firehouse to tell everyone the good news.

"Alright hop-a-long" Kelly joked as he saw the couple walk into the firehouse.
"Funny" Riley mocked. Ever since Riley injured her leg, Kelly had insisted on calling her hop-a-long every time he saw her.
"How'd it go anyway?" Kelly laughed.
"Good. I've been cleared for reduced hours and shifts" Riley explained.
"That's great. Congrats" Kelly smiled happily. He then got up and pulled Riley in for a hug.
"I'm gunna go tell everyone else" Riley said happily.
"Hey guys" Riley said waltzing into the common room/lounge area.
"How's the leg?" Mouch asked, as everyone else knew that Riley had a check-up appointment that day.
"It's getting there. I've been cleared to work reduced hours and shifts. I have to wear my fitted knee brace for the first few shifts and take it easy, but I'm back" Riley cheered happily.

"Yay! That's awesome news!" Sylvie said happily, rushing over to hug her friend. Everyone came and congratulated their friend by giving Riley a hug and a few personal words of happiness. After talking to everyone Riley excused herself to go and speak with the chief before a call came in. She walked through the firehouse and knocked on his office door. Riley saw the Chief take off his glasses and wave her in with a smile.
"Hey Chief..."
"Riley, what can I do for you? How's the leg?" Boden questioned Riley as she sat down on one of the chairs opposite his desk.
"Good. It's good. That's actually why I'm here." Riley then went on to explain about what the doctor had said even though he had already been informed. The pair then discussed what shifts Riley would be working and when etc before Riley and Chase headed home.

A few days later, Riley returned to work. Her knee was getting better and stronger as each day passed. Lenny had called her and told her that he would be staying with their parents out in Boston as he had had a job offer from an old friend that he wanted to accept. As nearly 2 weeks passed from the day she returned to work, Riley was pretty much back to completing full length shifts. It was late afternoon when Chase's phone rang. It was Sargent Trudy Platt calling from the district. Upon hearing what Platt had to say, Chase went straight to Boden.
"Come in" He greeted.
"Hey chief...I'm really sorry but I've just had call from Platt. Andy's in trouble. His mum went out of town this morning is it alright if I go pick him out and bring him back here?" Chase asked.
"Of course" Boden replied.
"Thanks chief" Chase said before he went to find Riley. He explained what was happening before he left. Once he arrived at the district he spoke with Platt before he dragged Andy outside.
"What the hell were you thinking Andy??!" Chase shouts, banging on the hood of his car.
"I'm sorry okay! I didn't know they were trouble until a few days ago – and once I found out, they threatened me not to tell!" Andy says, sounding defeated and ashamed.  Chase takes a deep breath before walking over to Andy and engulfing him in a hug.
"Next time, no matter what anyone says, come to me. Or Jay – hell anyone Andy. All of us will be there to help you and won't let anything happen to you, okay?" Chase asks, holding his nephew at arms-length away. Andy just nods his head slowly, before sighing.
"Come on, I've got to get back to work. You're spending the afternoon at the firehouse and then with Jay after his shift, until I finish tomorrow morning." Chase tells Andy before unlocking the car and getting in. Chase watches as Andy hesitates and takes a deep breath before opening the door and sliding into the passenger's side.
The drive back to the firehouse was one of complete and utter silence... the only sound that could be heard was from the radio that played softly in the background. Chases was concentrated on driving – taking the occasional glance at his nephew, whilst Andy on the other hand sat staring out of the window, probably wishing that today had never happened.
When they did eventually arrive back at the firehouse nearly 25 minutes later, Andy was very content on making things right as a way of apologising to his uncle. He was very helpful and helped complete tasks around the firehouse. Due to the time of day he first set off to helping Sylvie make lunch for everyone then went on to helping all the paramedics restock both of the ambulances before sitting down and powering through some of his school work. As it got later and later in the day, Jay had called to assure Chase that he would be leaving work within the hour and would stop by to pick Andy up. At 7pm on the dot Jay pulled into the driveway of the firehouse. Andy said farewell to everyone and had a quick chat with Chase before grabbing his things and walking out to Jay's car. When he arrived at the car, Jay was stood, leant against the bonnet, he could see that Andy had had a tough day and didn't want to pressure him in to talking just yet.
"How about we grab a bite to eat, pick some stuff for you tonight and then head back to mine?" Jay asked, greeting Andy with a manly handshake and man hug.
"Yeah" Andy says before climbing into Jay's truck. They drive to a local diner and sit. When they are ready the both order some food and a drink before sitting to chat. 40 minutes later they are heading to Chases to pick up Andy's belongings. Andy had been staying with Chase & Riley for 2 weeks as his mum is out of town. Once they have picked up his things they head straight for Jay's place. Andy dumps his stuff in the spare room before sitting down to watch TV with Jay.
"Uh-uh buddy. Homework then bed" Jay said, enforcing the rules that Chase had told him. Andy groaned before getting up and going back to his room. He knew that when Riley and Chase returned in the morning that their would-be hell to pay.
