Taking a deep breathe whilst standing outside, Charlie 'Buck' Buckton prepares himself for the shift ahead of him. After taking a few minutes, Buck finally gathers enough courage and head inside the firehouse. He walks in through the double doors, where he finds everyone sitting down, enjoying their breakfasts. Riley Evans is the first to notice him and walks over.
"Hi – you must be Charlie" She says, extending her hand out for him to shake.
"I prefer Buck, actually" He responds with a smile.
"Okay then Buck. This is Squad Lieutenant Kelly Severide and Captain Casey" Riley says, pointing out those in charge around the room.
"Right, I'll show you to the locker rooms so you can get changed" Riley says, leading the way.
"I'll leave you to it – the combination for the spare locker is 652278. Come have some food afterwards" Riley says, before walking off to leave him be.

"So, who is it I'm covering for?" Buck asks, as he joins Riley, Sylvie and Gabby at the table with his food.
"My partner – Chase. He hurt his finger last shift and was ordered to get it checked out" Riley says, getting up to grab another cup of coffee. Before Buck has the chance to reply, the intercom goes off.
"SQUAD 3, AMBULANCE 67 – WAREHOUS ENTRAPMENT – 2246 LINCOLN CROSS"
"Let's go" Riley says, getting up and tapping Buck o the shoulder before the pair run away to their rig.

An hour later and Riley and Buck finally arrive back to the firehouse after taking their patient from the last call to med. The patient was trapped under a heavy piece of wood and luckily escaped with just a broken leg. However, the call itself wasn't the problem. Buck was.
"Hey! Buck, with me, now!" Riley says catching the attention of others in the firehouse, as Buck goes to walk off.
"Don't you ever disrespect me or anyone like that ever again!" Riley shouts, as they make their way outside.
"What's your problem?!" Buck replies, only making Riley angrier.
"You are. You completely disregarded orders back there and nearly got yourself injured – let alone nearly killing the patient!" Riley shouts, getting frustrated by his 'whatever' attitude.
"That's not what happened. I was-"Buck starts, but Riley cuts him off.
"NO! No, I was or it's just! You disobeyed mine and a Lieutenant orders! You're my rookie Buck! My responsibility and you're reckless!" Riley starts, as Casey makes his way outside.
"I won't have you risking people's life. Take this as your first and Final warning!" Riley shouts, looking Buck in the eyes before walking away to calm down.
"You alright?" Casey says, as Riley walks past him, only for Riley to ignore him and continue her way inside.
"Oi! Rookie! Get inside and sort your rig!" Casey says, talking to Buck. Buck doesn't move at first.
"That's an order Rookie...don't make me ask again!" Casey says, making his way inside to check on his colleague. He walks into the bathroom and finds Riley sat on the sink counter on her phone.
"You okay?" Casey asks, leaning against the wall besides her.
"Yeah..." Riley says, as her phone pings, making her smile.
"Even better now that Chase has been cleared for work and will be back next shift" Riley says, filled with relief.
"Good...let me know if you have anymore problems with the rookie." Casey says.
"Thanks...I'm pretty sure you'll know because I'll be kicking his ass out onto the street" Riley says, making the pair laugh before the intercom goes off.
"Ambulance 67, elderly woman fallen – needs assistance – 2557 Alcona Way"
"They're calling my name" Riley says, giving Casey a smile before running off to the ambulance, where Buck is in the driver's seat.
"Let's roll" Riley says, making Buck pull away and hit the lights.
The ambulance speeds through the city, getting closer and closer to the scene of the call. As the pair speed towards the address Buck's careless concentration fails to notice the van that is speeding towards them in the intersection until it's too late...
The van was going soo fast that it hit ambulance 67 with enough force to flip it and leave it sitting upside down on its roof. The force of the crash knocks Buck out, but Riley is able to stay awake for long enough to make an emergency call to dispatch.
"Ambulance 67 to dispatch. We've come across a run-in call, involving a car, van and ambulance" Riley says, taking a deep breathe due to pain.
"Ambulance 67, what ambulance is involved?" Dispatch asks.
"It's mine" Riley says, before fading unconscious.
Upon hearing all of this, dispatch calls for back-up, and of course, firehouse 51 gets the call.
"Truck 81, Squad 3, Ambulance 61, Battalion 25 – Car Accident on the intersection of North-Heights. Ambulance 67 is believed to be involved."
Dispatch says over the intercom, making everyone sprint to their vehicles and speed away to the scene of the crash. Lights and Sirens blaring.

Upon arriving on the scene, 51 can see the extent of the crash, as how much force the ambulance took. Kelly is the first one out of the truck and races towards the ambulance. He fins both paramedics unconscious however, Buck is starting to wake up.
"Riley, can you hear me?" He asks, reaching in to check for a pulse and sighing with relief as he finds one.
"Huh...OMG" Buck says, as he starts to move and come around.
"WOAH. Buck I need you to stay still for me" Casey says, coming to the other side of the ambulance.
"AH..." He says, as he moves his arm.
"What hurts?" Gabby asks, as Casey moves away so that she can check Buck out whilst Sylvie checks on Riley – the pair having already checked on the van driver who was extremely intoxicated.
"My shoulder, I think I dislocated it" He says, groaning once again.
"Alright, we'll give you something for that once we've gotten you out" Gabby says, moving aside again to allow truck 81 to free Buck whilst Squad work on Riley. A few minute later, Riley starts to come around and instantly feels the severe pain in her leg.
"Ouch, stop!" She says, as Kelly moves something away from her leg.
"Riley calm down for me. What hurts?" Sylvie asks, having already placed a c-collar on Riley.
"My leg...and chest" Riley says, shouting in pain again.
"Alright...let's cut Buck's seat belt and get him out – clear some more space" Casey says, ordering his men about and Gabby places a c-collar on him. As Buck is stuck up-side down, pinned in his seat, they have to cut his seatbelt to allow him to fall and get out. Of course, the firefighters will support him and carefully manoeuvre him out of the ambulance. With one swift manoeuvre, they get Buck out and start working on Riley. By the time they manage to get Riley out, she's unconscious again, leading Gabby & Sylvie to believe that Riley may be suffering from a concussion – possibly worse. They load her up, before rushing her to Chicago Med. Boden calls Chase, to have him go straight to Med to be there for Riley as those of 51 still have to finish at the crash site.

When ambulance 61 pulls up at med, Sylvie and Gabby race to get Riley inside. April and Dr Connor Rhodes, meet the paramedics by the door.
"Riley Evans, 29-year-old female. Involved in a serious van vs ambulance crash approximately 1hr ago. Pro-longed extrication. SATS 96, Pulse 124, GCS was 10 on arrival -went up to 14 and is now a 12. Possible broken ribs. Severe trauma to her right leg" Gabby says, as they wheel her into trauma bay 3 and transfer her over to the hospital bed.
"Riley can you hear me?" Connor asks, shining a light in her eyes. Thankfully her pupils are reactive to light.
"I want full bloods. A head-to-toe CT-scan and an emergency chest X-ray" Connor says to April, who gets to work. He then continues to examine Riley's chest, abdomen and leg. They remove Riley from the spinal board before taking a chest X-ray.
"Right, well her chest is clear – there's no fractures" Connor says, examining the X-ray before raising the sides of the bed.
"Let's get her to CT" Connor says, wheeling her away.
"Maggie...keep and eye out for Chase" Connor says, making the Charge nurse nod before he gets into the elevator alongside Riley.

10 minutes later, a panicked and frantic Chase, rushes into ED.
"Maggie! Where is she?" He asks, concern evident in his voice.
"She's still in CT, come through here" Maggie says, taking him into the staff room.
"Have you seen her, is she okay?" He asks.
"She's okay. I don't really know much else, but Rhodes will come and get you when she's back okay?" Maggie says, handing him a bottle of water.
"Thanks Maggie"
20 minutes later, members from 51 starts to pile into the waiting room. Connor also brings Riley back from CT – but he takes her straight up to the ward instead, he then goes to get Chase. The minute Connor walks into the doctor's lounge, Chase stands up.
"How is she?"
"She stable. The only major injury she has is to her leg, but I'll tell you more when we're with Riley come on" Connor says, showing Chase to Riley's room on the ward.
"Riley..." Chase says, giving her a kiss on the forehead whilst taking a seat by her bed.
"Hey..." she says, taking his hand, happy to see him. Riley then goes on to explain what happened as Connor goes off to rush through her test and scan results. When Chase hears what happened, he gets angry but also feels guilty.
