Science, my life's study. I've always liked science, girls would spend their free time looking up 'cool things' as I spent my time researching the human mind. I love all things science, you name it I've researched it. Although, now, with monsters on the surface, there's so much more to learn. I would take every opportunity I can to research monsters, small things to seeing how they talk to each other and handle small things like a papercut. I wanted, no needed, to know everything about them.

I would sit in the park, observing monsters and humans. Both humans and monsters interest me. If I could only interview a monster. . . I stayed at the park until the sun was fully down, Reluctantly I finally got up and headed for my car. I skimmed over my notes and sighed. "Another day with too little data. Maybe I should go to that one restaurant. There are always monsters there, and I've rarely seen humans go in there." It was decided, I'd go to the restaurant. It would also give me a chance to see monster food up close.

I started the car and drove off.

When I got to the restaurant it seemed in a nice balance between busy and calm. I walked in and a few monsters looked at me, I walked to a both and wrote it down. No monsters seemed uneasy if anything some looked curious. A monster made of fire walked to me to take my order. I couldn't help myself I had to ask. "Excuse me, sir, if you do not mind and when you are free would you mind if I asked you some questions? Like an interview."

He smiled amusingly and took a seat. I matched his smile. "Thank you, sir. First, what is your name?"

"Grillby," He said warmly.

I wrote down his name and a short description of what he looked like. "Thank you, Mr. Grillby. Will you tell me a bit about the food you serve here, the monster food I mean? What is it made of, and things like that."

"Well, the food is made of magic. Monster's run on it, without having magic a monster's body wouldn't sustain its self." My eyes widened at this information and I quickly wrote it down. "Incredible! So if a monster runs out of magic will they turn to dust?" Grillby shrugged, "it depends on the monster. Some monsters can't run out of magic, their bodies will steal it from other sources. Other's, like skeletons, will go into a small form if they run low on magic. In the end, though you're right. If monsters have no magic they will turn to dust."

I wrote down his response, "this is incredible! Is it true that humans had magic long ago?
What about attacks? How does that work?" He chuckled, "you sure are curious. Tell you what, come back tomorrow and I'll have a friend you can ask questions to as well as myself." My eyes lit up. "Really! I would love that!"

When I got home I could barely sit still, I was so excited for tomorrow. I would get to talk to another monster. I quickly got ready for bed and laid down waiting for sleep to consume me.

When I awoke I quickly got ready forgetting to eat. Although I guess that wouldn't be a problem since I'm going to a restaurant. I ran down the street dodging people as I ran. I came to a stop and saw Grillby unlocking the door to his restaurant. "You do realize I don't open for another. . ." he paused and took a look at his watch. "Two hours right?"

I smiled and rubbed the back of my neck awkwardly. "Heh, I guess I was so excited I didn't look at the time. . ." He laughed and opened the door and let me in. "Well, I could use some help if you'd like to help get things ready for me.I smiled and walked through the door. "Grillby, what's your friend's name?" I asked as I set up the tables.

"His name is Sans, he should be here as soon as I open."

"Would you tell me a little bit about him?" He nodded at my request. "He's a pretty relaxed guy, I'll warn you now he likes to tell jokes." I smiled. "A comedian huh? That's great, I wonder if he has any science jokes."

"I'm sure he does."

After I finished setting up the tables I sat at the bar and waited for customers to come fill them up. I wasn't long until a short skeleton wearing a gray beanie and blue jacket filled the seat beside me.  "Excuse me, are you Sans?" The skeleton looked at me with a permanent smile on his face and nodded. "Yep, you know me? I must be getting famous." I laughed a little then spoke, "Hello, I'm Y/n. Grillby said I could ask you some questions about monsters."

"Well nice to meet you Y/n. So what's this for? School report, what are you in? 8th grade." I puffed out my cheeks, "No, I'm actually in my second year of college thank you and this is just for personal research. I like to learn about new things, and I'm hoping if I learn enough about monsters I can get humans who are scared of them to feel more comfortable around them." Sans nodded, "I see flaws in your idea, but I'll go with it."

I asked my questions and Sans answered them without hesitation. "Ok I have one more question but this one can be kinda. . . awkward to ask." Sans nodded "Shoot kiddo." I took a deep breath. "Do monsters reproduce the same way as humans? And if so how do skeleton monsters reproduce?" Sans blushed a little, "W-well. Umm." Grillby walked over calmly and answered my question. "Monster's don't have to reproduce physically, they can do it with their souls. That also means that two monsters of the same gender can reproduce. When that happens the monster with more feminine like features or personality will carry the child. Monsters can also do it physically if they chose. As for skeletons they have a special magic. It lets them create body parts that they don't have. Things like hair, stomach, and so on." I wrote as fast as I could to keep up with the information Grillby was giving me. "That's amazing would it be possible for humans and monsters to reproduce together?"

Grillby shrugged "It's never been tired as far as I know of. In theory, I would say it's plausible." I looked back at Sans who seemed all too eager to get off of this topic. "Ok, thank you Grillby. Sans, can I ask you about something else." Sans nodded, "If it gets us off the topic of where babies come from go ahead." I set my notepad down along with my pen. "Have any good science jokes?"

I could have sworn I saw his smile grow. For an hour Sans did nothing but tell science jokes. It got so bad that I fell on the floor laughing. Sans helped me up and I sat back down. "Hehe, thanks, Sans. I'm really glad I know someone who at least knows some good  science jokes." I said wiping a tear from my eye.
