Josh headed back for school, so that left me home alone.
I locked the front door behind me and began walking. It was about 2 or 3 miles, but worth it.
Ring ring!
"Hey Cole." I stopped in my tracks and answered my phone after looking at the caller's name.
"Hey gorgeous." It was Alx, but he was calling from Cole's phone so he knew I'd answer. Clever.
"What do you want Alx?" I asked, annoyed.
"Are you still mad at me?" He asked softly.
"I don't know what would you do if I started beating up your best friend?"
"I get it." He paused. "Want to come over?"
"I'm walking to Jackson's, so no."
"Later then?" he waited for my answer.
"Maybe. But, I have to go."
"Wait!" He yelled before I could hang up.
"What?"
"You can bring Jackson."
"Maybe." Click.
***********
When I reached Jackson's house, I didn't even have to knock. He was sitting on the steps to his front porch.
"What are you doing here?" he stood, happy to see me.
"Well I mean they left me home alone." I laughed sitting down on his porch swing.
"Wow." He took the spot next to me. "So about earlier.."
"Yeah?"
"Well," I seen him glancing at my arms.
"Yeah?" I said again, hiding my arms.
Jackson then surprised me by grabbing my arm and he placed a small peck with his lips on my scars.
"Why did you do that? " I asked softly.
"Just had the urge to." He shrugged. "And.." He paused.
"What is it?" I scooted closer.
"I get it."
"Get what?" I looked into his eyes.
"Cutting." He paused and rolled up his sleeve.
"They look.."
"Fresh." He nodded.
"When?" I stood.
"I don't know.. Few days ago? Last week?"
"Why?" I waved my arms around.
"Felt alone. Like no one understands me." His eyes grew watery.
"Stand up." I placed my hands on my hips.
"Yes?" he stood slowly and gasped when I wrapped him quickly in a hug.
"It's gonna be okay." I smiled.
"I guess."
"Jackson," I pulled away. "Promise me you will stop."
"I don't.." He looked around.
"Jackson." I grabbed his arms. "Please?"
"Fine." He nodded. "I'll stop."
"Jackson.."
"Promise." He smiled.
"Great now.." I smiled.
"What?"
"Well.." I paused. "Tickle fight!" I began tickling him.
"No. Stop!" he was laughing uncontrollably.
"Never." I laughed.
"My turn!" he began tickling me.
"No!" I was screaming and laughing all at once.
Ring ring!
"Hold on." I laughed. "That's my phone."
"Hey." This time it was Cole.
"Hey Cole."
"What's up?"
"Not much at my friend Jackson's house."
"Fun." He paused. "So Alx wants to know.."
"Hey!" I heard Alx in the background. "Shut up!"
"Anyway, could you come over or meet us at the park?"
"I don't-"
"Please?" Cole asked kindly. "You can bring Jackson.
"Is he going to apologize?"
"Hold on." Cole out the phone down.
"What's up?" Jackson asked.
"We might be going to the park." I shrugged.
"To meet up with-"
"He said yes." Cole spoke again.
"Okay. He better. And if he says one wrong thing we're leaving."
"That's fine." Cole said.
Is AJ going to be there?" I rolled my eyes.
"No. She's with her boyfriend."
"Good. And I have to be back by one."
"Okay. See ya soon." Click.
"Come on." I stood.
"Megan.." Jackson stood too. "I don't.."
"Don't worry. He won't say anything rude. I'll be there the whole time. " I smiled.
"Fine." He grabbed his keys. "Who's Cole?"
"Alx's brother." I opened his
Passenger seat door. "You'll like him."
"You sure?"
"Positive." I winked and hopped in his car.
"Music." Jackson snapped his fingers.
"Make me." I smiled.
"So I have to tickle you again?" Jackson looked over at me.
"No!" I flipped on the radio quickly.
"Wait!" Jackson put his hand up as the familiar tune started playing. "Just a small town girl.."
"Jackson?" I looked at him.
"What?" He laughed. "Please don't make me sing alone."
"Fine."
"Took a midnight train.." Jackson began.
"Going anywhere." I finished.
After about three songs, we arrived at the park and Alx and Cole was already waiting for us. Or me. Whatever.
"Get out of the car." Alx smiled.
I felt a little weird about getting out, but I did anyway.
What Alx did next completely shocked me.
