Weeks were going by, and my jealousy grew.

Alx was very popular so on a daily basis about ten or more girls came up to him. Played with his hair, complimented him, laugh at everything he laughed at.

Ugh.

Finally on a Tuesday, he called me.

"Hey."

"Hey gorgeous."

"What's up?"

"Not much just wanted to see how you're doing."

"Oh so now you're noticing me?" I rolled my eyes.

"I know, I know." He paused. "But listen, I'm a wingman for a lot of guys. Hang out with a friend of the girl he's hitting on. But listen, I like you the most."

I smiled. Shit.

"You there?"

"Yeah, I'm still here." I shrugged.

"Wanna go see a movie?" Alx asked after a long pause.

"Sure."

"Okay. I hope you don't mind but Cole has to go. Dad's rules. I wish he could find friends for once." Alx groaned.

"Don't talk about him like that."

"Why, you like him?"

"I.. No.. He's just my friend."

"Good cause he would never like you like that."

"How do you know?" I stood a little straighter.

"He told me." He paused. "He said that you were nothing but a friend and you could never be the girlfriend type. Ever."

"Really?" I felt sad. Hurt actually.

"Not trying to let you down kid. Just telling you what he said. I figured you would want to hear the truth."

"Right." I shrugged. "Anything else he said about me?"

"Oh yea-"

"Hey who are you talking to?" I heard Cole in the background.

"I'm talking to Megan." Alx sounded annoyed.

"Can I talk to her?"

"No."

I heard some shuffling and a loud bang.

"Hey." It was Cole.

"Hi." I replied flatly.

"What's up?"

"Nothing."

"Something wrong?" Cole asked.

"No. Nothing. I have to go."

"Okay, well-"

Click.

I hung up, tossed my phone lightly and cried. Not sure why. I didn't even really like Cole like that.

Ring ring.

"Hey Jackson." I wiped my face.

"Hey what's up?"

"Nothing." I was still fighting tears.

"What's wrong?"

"Nothing." I shrugged.

"No." Jackson got really serious all of a sudden. "It's something. And I want to know."

"Well." I couldn't find anything to say.

"Can I come over?"

"Yeah, but I'm going to the movies later."
