Ashley's POV
•••••••••••••••••••••
"So how's your sister feeling" Kim
asked me laying down on my bed
looking up to me.
I sighed.
"She's okay" I say
A tear or two start falling down my
face. Kim notices and quickly
stands up from bed and comes
running towards me. She hugs me
tightly and strokes my long wavy
chestnut hair.
"It's all right" she says "Everythings
gonna be all right...''
'What a disaster this family has' I
thought to myself lying down at the
bed.

Flashback
Me and mom wait quietly at the
waiting room.
Mom is drinking up coffé and I have
an orange juice in my hand.
An hour has past and I can tell by
mom's worried face that she really
isn't gonna take it much longer.
She has to know.
We just came for a check up at the
Doctor and next thing you know he
says, "We will take a while longer on
the other patient. We will take
examinations. Plese have
patience"
Patience.
That's the one thing my mom didn't
have now.
Another hour has passed and it's
6:03 pm.
7:42pm is when the doctor arrives.
"Mrs. Garcia...'' he says looking
straight into her eyes with his deep
blue old eyes.
"We have diagnosed your daughter
with... Cancer"
My mom's eyes widened and she fell
on the ground with both of her knees
I ran to her and tried to stand her up.
Cancer?
Leslie has Cancer?
My little 8 year old sister has Cancer?
Oh no...
Not Leslie no!
Tears ran down my face and I
burried my head on my mom's
shoulder.
Now how are we gonna explain this
to her?
_____________
"Hi mommy! hi Ashley!" says Leslie waving when me and mom come in the room.
She was neatly laid down on a hospital bed with those things on your nose you get when you're really sick and a clip on her finger.
Mom didn't say anything. She had her face faced down and only looked at her once when she smiled.
''Hi Leslie. How are you feeling?'' I asked.
"Good" she said
And the day went by with me asking her questions and us playing games and remembering some things about dad.
It was finally when the doctor came in and said "Did you tell her?"
Leslie had confusion in her eyes. Great.
"what?" she said calmly
"Leslie..." mom spoke looking down
"Leslie, you have cancer..."
And then there it was. We finally said it. We finally told her the horrible truth.
Wait a minute, Leslie doesn't know wha-
"what's cancer?" she asked
I was sitting on a chair beside her bed. I slowly reached for her arm and I looked at her in the eyes.
Great. How do I tell a 8 year old girl she's gonna die?
"Cancer is something sick people have...'' I began Great. now I'm going to have to explain.
But Leslie only nodded.
"It's, something people have. Cancer is something that kills you until your dead."
This time, I put both of my hands on hers and squeezed them together.
She looked at me with wide eyes. And at that, I knew she understood.
"Leslie, your going to-"
"I'm going to die..." she said looking horrified
