۵Paris's POV
Today was a pretty rough day. The teachers do NOT joke around. My voice is actually sore from doing so many whistle tones. It also doesn't help hearing the hushed whispers behind my back.
'Look, it's the girl who had cancer.'
'Look, it's the girl that's sick.'
'Is she ever going to get better?'
'I think she's dying.'
I don't even know all the scenarios they have made about me. I heard one where apparently I had 30 days to live? No honey, I beat cancer. Thank ya very much. It beat me up pretty bad and I don't know if I'll ever completely recover, but I still won. Even though I look like a complete train wreck.
'Why doesn't she wear a wig?'
'Ew, I can see her scalp.'
'She should at least wear a beanie or something.'
First of all, I am not going to wear a wig. Second of all, if a freakin scalp grosses you out, you need to go home and grow up. Third of all, beanies itch like heck when there is no hair in-between to keep it from rubbing.
Don't judge someone until you've walked in their shoes. Ok, honey? Because, cancer sucks. If you think a scalp is gross, you would be totally grossed out at the sight of an infected port. Oh dear gawd. I was so weak that Eudora or Ashton had to clean it for me. Sometimes both of them and sometimes Zane would have to help too when the port was being difficult. They never once flinched or called it 'nasty'. Even though, it looked like something from a horror movie.
I know they would do it again for me and I would gladly do it for them. Families do stuff like that and I'm thankful for it.
I sigh a little and walk into the apartment to be greeted by three puppies. I smile and pet each one them before saying, "Hi babies."
"But, you don't look gay." I hear Ashton say. I furrow my eyebrows in confusion as I walk over to the table and set my bag down.
"You don't sound gay." Zane says. What the heck is going on in there? I walk to the livingroom and lean against the doorway. There's a guy sitting on the couch, looking really uncomfortable.
"You don't dress gay." Ashton says.
"You don't act gay." Zane says.
This guy is getting more uncomfortable by the minute. I am actually feeling sorry for him. Poor thing is being ridiculed by those two weirdos.
"What's going on?" I ask. Everyone's attention turns to me. They're just realizing that I'm in the room.
The guy that was sitting uncomfortably's face suddenly lights up. He smiles excitedly before jumping up and holding his arms out. "Paris!" He says happily.
My body suddenly gets a rush of excitement when I realize who this is. It's Sage!
I squeal a little before running and jumping to him, hugging him tightly.
He catches me and laughs as he hugs me back.
"I haven't seen you in forever!" I say.
"Well, I tried to come over a few times but either your parents wouldn't let me in or they said that you guy's weren't there." He says.
"I'm sorry. Our parents wouldn't let us come see you either, so we eventually just gave up and relied on texts, phone calls, and video chats." I say with a small laugh.
He smiles at me before whispering in my ear. "I don't think your lifemate likes me."
I look at him in confusion. Lifemate? Isn't that just a werewolf thing?
Then I feel Ashton's and Zane's confused gazes on us. It's just normal for Sage to hold me like this but I didn't think about how it looked to them. My legs are wrapped around his waist and my hands are on his shoulders while he is holding me up by my thighs.
I notice the anger in Ashton's eyes as he shifts them from mine to Sage's. It looks like he wants to strangle him.
I quickly hop down from our position to try to keep the peace.
Sage leans down and whispers in my ear once again. "Yeah. You, Eudora, and I need to have a talk later." He says and I look up at him and raise an eyebrow.
"What are you two whispering about?" Ashton asks. He's agitated.
"It's nothing." I say as I walk over to him. "Sage is like a brother to Eudora and I, so you have nothing to worry about." I add before leaning up and pecking his lips, trying to calm him down.
"Yeah, plus, I'm gay." Sage adds and I laugh a little. Ashton seems to have relaxed a bit but I can tell that he is still on edge.
"Where's Eudora?" I ask.
"She fell asleep so I picked her up and took her to our room." Zane says and I nod a little.
"I'm gonna go check on her." I say before walking away with Sage following me.
I see in the corner of my eye, Ashton start to follow us but Zane grabbing his arm and holding him back. I'm not for sure what that's all about.
I walk into their room to find Eudora wide awake on the bed, looking horrified. I think she's in a cold sweat.
Now, I've learned that it's most affective if I crawl in bed and just snuggle with her until she calms down. Sometimes I'll ask if she wants to draw it because that helps her, but most of the time she doesn't want too.
I wish I could take the nightmares away from her.
I slowly crawl underneath the covers with her and snuggle up close. Sage sits at the end of the bed, not asking any questions. He knows us so well.
We stay together in silence for a while before I ask, "Do you want to draw it?" She shakes her head.
"Do you want to talk about your day today?" I ask but she shakes her head again.
I look over at Sage and ask him, "Do you want to talk about your day today?"
"Well, I had a great day today because I found out that two of my favorite people go to the same school as me and we can see each other everyday." He replies and I smile.
I look over at Eudora to see her smiling a little. She's starting to calm down, which is relieving.
We all sit together and talk about random nonsence. Forgetting about everything as we laugh with each other at the silly things we remember from our childhood.
