۵Sage's POV
It hadn't been very long since Cloud had left that I got the call. He couldn't have even gone as far as the end of town.
Now, I sat in the passenger seat of Cloud's car, covering my eyes as he drove, very recklessly, on the highway. We were headed back to the pack.
Henley had been shot and Ruby was nowhere to be found.
Cloud slammed onto the breaks so he wouldn't rear end the car in front of us. But it only made me sling forward, even with my seatbelt on, before Cloud started speaking profanities about how people needed to learn how to drive.
I wanted to laugh and joke about how he needed to, not them, but I couldn't. Henley was hurt, Ruby was missing, nothing was funny about that.
"Did they get the bullet out?" I asked, looking down at my phone as it lit up, a text from the group chat showing across my screen.
Eudora and I had been texting each other in the group chat between the two of us, Paris and Cloud. Paris was asleep and Cloud was too busy driving to answer her questions, so mine would suffice.
"I don't know," Cloud said, pulling off to a side road, to get away from the rest of the cars most likely. "Last time I was notified of anything, he was not even fully awake."
I nodded, looking at the phone and typing the answer before sending it. "I hope they did, because he can't start healing until then."
"I know, Sage," Cloud spoke, agitation in his voice. I knew I had to shut my mouth so I moved to mine and Eudora's private texts, telling her that Cloud was getting annoyed and no more questions would be answered.
She sent back a crying face, once again, making me want to laugh, but I knew I shouldn't. Cloud pulled into a parking spot and got out, not even caring to kill the car.
I reached over, turning the keys to kill the engine before taking the keys out and getting out, following Cloud towards the infirmary.
The pack doctor had been awaiting us while also keeping up with Henley. We were immediately allowed into the room and saw Henley passed out.
"He kept fighting us and trying to leave," the doctor spoke, making us aware that medicine had made him pass out.
"Any leads on Ruby?" Cloud asked, ignoring me as I walked over to Henley, grabbing his hand and wishing they would've just stayed at the apartment.
"The guards said that they have security footage of the way they went but nobody can track the scent," the doctor said.
Apparently the pack guards had been keeping him up to date, that or they'd been telling Henley before he passed back out.
"So, there were more to cover the scent?" He asked, tilting his head.
"That or there was no scent of the culprit to begin with, but they'd still be able to smell Ruby, unless they covered her scent as well," the doctor went on.
I ignored them, looking in front of me when Henley groaned. He started to roll over, only to shoot up in bed and look at the three of us. "Where's Ruby?"
"I'm taking care of it, Henley," Cloud said, but it did nothing to soothe Henley's nerves.
"But I gotta find her, she's my mate," Henley kept speaking, until I stood up and put my hands on his shoulders.
"Henley, you're hurt, right?" I asked, he nodded. "If we were to allow you to go to the culprit wounded, you'd just end up worse, and could possibly die. Ruby wouldn't want to come home with you dead, now would she?" He shook his head, looking over at Cloud, his eyes pleading.
Henley was the beta, it was hard for him to give up on something that easily, but he seemed to know he didn't need to go find Ruby. "I'm going to gather some guards, Sage, stay with Henley, and, Henley, rest."
With the orders, Cloud left, us hearing his howl before everything was silent once again. I looked at Henley, who looked at me before sighing and laying back in the bed.
"Now that you're calm, can I extract the bullet?" The doctor asked, making Henley shrug before uncovering his wound.
The doctor got to work as I worried about Ruby, and now Cloud.
۵Eudora's POV
I stared at the wall, my hand instinctively petting Kona, who had rested herself in my lap fifteen minutes ago. Everyone else was fast asleep.
I sighed, breaking my gaze from the interesting wall and instead looking down at Kona. She had even fallen asleep. I couldn't sleep, normally, but today, I felt tired.
I wasn't tired, I was exhausted. Kona moved, yawning before falling back asleep whenever I moved. I sighed, looking up at the television that was playing before getting up, holding Kona.
I walked to the hallway closet, deciding to not wake up Zane, and got a blanket, before walking back to the couch.
I laid Kona on it, throwing the covers on it before walking to the refrigerator, grabbing a bottle of water before walking back to the couch. Kona looked up at me, having woken up and now just laying near.
I yawned, laying on the couch and covering up as I watched the television.
I started to fall asleep, my eyes already closed, before I heard footsteps walking out of the hall. I heard a chuckle, immediately recognizing it as Zane's and opened an eye to see him raising an eyebrow at me.
"You do know that you have a bed, right?" He asked, walking over to Kona and I.
"I thought you were asleep and didn't want to wake you," I answered, smiling at him. He shook his head, another chuckle leaving his lips.
Kona got up, jumping down off of the couch. "No, my cuddle buddy!" I whispered my words, not wanting to wake the other two that I knew were asleep.
Zane rolled his eyes, getting under the covers before closing his eyes and wrapping his arms around my waist. "Go to sleep," he spoke, making me laugh and him smile.
"Fine," my eyes were already closed and I was half asleep as I spoke. I felt his lips kiss my forehead before I fell into the darkness of sleep.
