"You have to tell her."
Stacie looked at the desperate look in her girlfriend's eyes. Sighing she sat down on the bed. "I know I have to but... how?"
Aubrey sat down next to Stacie and began stroking her brunette wavy hair. She heard a soft sob against her chest.
"Baby don't cry, I'm sure it isn't that bad." Aubrey tried to reassure her.
"She needs brain surgery, Aubrey." Stacie sniffed. "That woman is like a second mother to me."
The blonde knew how much Caren meant to Stacie, she knew something was wrong as soon as she saw the brunette's expression when she stepped into the dorm an hour ago. Of course, Aubrey asked where has she been the whole afternoon but Stacie couldn't answer.
"Stace, talk to me. What's wrong?" The blonde had asked rubbing the taller girl's back.
"This morning I received a text from Caren, Beca's mom." Aubrey could hear Stacie's voice trembling and it was killing her. "She told me to visit her as soon as I was free, I knew there was something out of place I had this feeling."
The brunette tried to suppress a sob, warm tears began streaming down her face as she remembered the events from earlier.
Caren opened the door for Stacie a minute after said girl rang the doorbell.
"Hey Stace, what brings you here?" The older woman sweetly asked.
Stacie laughed thinking it was one of Caren's jokes. "You told me to come."
The woman furrowed her eyebrows. "I did?"
Stacie nodded.
"Then come inside. I must have forgotten, old me." Caren said letting the younger woman in.
"We chatted like old times, Bree, but her mind seemed to be somewhere else." Stacie continued to tell Aubrey.
The brunette recalled sitting down on the couch next to Caren as they talked.
"How's Beca doing at school, I don't know why she isn't home yet."
Stacie looked confused at the woman in front of her.
"Beca graduated last year, she's in L.A., you signed the permission papers." Stacie explained looking at the woman's confused expression.
The woman's face went from confused to disgusted as she quickly rushed to the bathroom and threw up. Stacie sat there worried.
"I guess eating healthy just isn't for me." Caren laughed as she sat down again near Stacie.
"You know I love you, and you can tell me anything." The younger girl said taking Caren's hand in hers. "What's going on?"
Caren sighed. "Honestly, I don't know."
"Let's run some tests to make sure everything is in place, okay?" She gently asked looking at the older woman who nodded in response.
"Once we arrived at the hospital a doctor took us to his office." Stacie continued to tell. "Apparently she's been diagnosed some time ago but she didn't remember, she has a Glioblastoma."
Meanwhile in L.A. Beca was finishing the arrangements to her late anniversary with Chloe.
"You better be out of the healthcare center by 8." Beca spoke over the phone as she drove her car. "I'll pick you up."
Chloe giggled as she changed into her clothes. "All this mystery is making me anxious."
Beca rolled her eyes even tho her girlfriend couldn't see her, Chloe knew Beca was doing it.
