All kind of feelings and emotions filled her body and mind, she was mad, angry at her mother for not calling sooner, she was scared of losing the lasts months of her mother's life, she was sad, she was tired, she had this awful feeling on her stomach and this thing in her head reminding her how unfair this situation was. She also felt disappointed of herself.
Beca sat straight letting her back lay against the black seat of the cab as she sighed. The driver pulled off and opened the car for the girl who said a shy 'thanks' before taking her backpack and getting out of the car.
"How can I help you?" a cheerful man said from behind the administration table on the lobby.
Beca was about to open her mouth when she heard her name being called.
"Beca?"
She turned around and so no other than her best friend. Stacie immediately rushed towards the smaller girl and embraced her in a hug. Beca felt a warm feeling spread through her body, a familiar old feeling and she found herself forced to pull away from the hug almost immediately.
"Can you uh, take me to her room?" Beca awkwardly asked, with her tired eyes fixed on the floor. Stacie understood and nodded.
A few miles away a worried red head tried to reach her girlfriend for the millionth time.
"She isn't answering my calls either." Emily said putting her phone down on the bed next to Chloe. "No luck?"
She saw the older girl's body language, head down, shoulders relaxed, left leg bouncing up and down non-stop. Chloe shook her head no in response.
"Her phone is off." Chloe sighed getting up from the bed. "I trust is nothing, probably something came up in the studio." She said trying to push her negatives thought away.
The red head made her way to the bathroom to brush her teeth in order to get ready for classes. She knew nothing came up in the studio, she'd already called Jesse and asked if Beca was with him but she was trying to keep it together and be positive for her own sake.
Shaking her head in disbelief, she spit the toothpaste she had in her mouth.
Back in the hospital Stacie and Beca were sitting on the empty waiting room waiting for one of Caren's nurses to take them towards saids woman's room. They sat in front of each other in a silence Stacie couldn't bare with. Beca had her hands holding her head with her elbows against her knees and even tho she wasn't looking at her friend she knew she was about to talk.
"Thanks for staying, but you can go." Beca said before Stacie could say anything. "Take a nap and go to class Stace, it's okay."
Stacie didn't want to leave, but she knew Beca too well and she knew she needed the space.
"Listen." She said standing up. "Amy, Aubrey and I found a floor near Barden, we have an extra bed if you need to crash somewhere."
The shorter girl finally looked up and made eye contact with her friend, revealing the dark circles under her eyes. She offered a thankful smile at her friend.
Just in cue, a nurse showed up and guided Beca towards her mother's room. The girl couldn't stop fidgeting with her fingers, it's been months since she last saw her mother and she wasn't sure what to expect, she wasn't ready to see her in a bad state.
"I thought they didn't allow the entry of weirdos." Caren said as soon as she saw her daughter step into her room.
The woman looked fine, she still had her long wavy brown hair, her face looked well rested and apparently her humor hasn't left yet. At that moment Beca forgot all the reasons why she was mad at her mother.
