The book from the library wasn't about only Chimera, and the list was impressively extensive and thorough, listing every type of German Fae, from the standard Faerie, all the way to the reclusive Revenants, as well as drawings of each, and details of their habitats and life cycles.
Chimera, listed and drawn to be nearly the same as my Weiss, were apparently vegetarian, only eating fish and berries, along with certain roots and flowers, due to them being Foxes, mixed with Roc, Ram, Wolf, and Sheep.
They also, according to the book, had a Metaphysical sense of Smell, not a physical one, meaning that they could find anything, regardless of whether they should be capable of smelling it, even across entire dimensions... if they were looking for it specifically.
However, if they weren't looking for anything, their noses became utterly useless, and they were essentially nose-blind.
Weiss sniffed that page, and snorted a small cloud of green mist at it, making the ink run.
"I don't think you're supposed to ruin the book, my dear." I sighed.
She yipped softly, and turned away, faking boredom.
I sighed and fixed the ink carefully, then turned the page.
'Amongst the most odd of things about Chimera, that have been observed, is the nature of its defecation. An unsavory subject, for sure, but one that bears discussion, either way. While the Chimera is known to have a mostly root and berry diet, as well as a meal of fish on occasion, some strange form of Alchemy takes place within the intestines of this magical creature, and what exits the Occasion is neither root, berry, or manure, but instead metallic sand of seemingly random alloys, even that of Gold.'
I blinked. "Huh! So you shit Gold! Very cool, dear." I petted her ears, and she purred, rolling into her back, and demanding a belly rub.
I smiled and complied, then set a pile of skinned and mashed grapes on the desk, which she promptly dove into.
"Is that... a baby Fox?" Eliza asked, petting her receptive ears without incident. She found the horns, and hummed. "Or some other beast?"
"My Familiar, a Germanic Chimera. Her name is Weiss." I said simply.
She froze, and Weiss yipped, impatient for more pets, before nibbling on Eliza's fingers with her little teeth, hopefully duller than the razor-sharp ones I'd seen on her father.
She hissed softly, sucking on her bleeding finger. "Ow... you have a Familiar? Since when?"
"Maybe I've had her all along?" I smirked.
"Don't get cute, she's not even a year old, I can tell that much." She frowned.
"And I've been here how many months? Two? She was just weened off of her mother's milk, so now she's able to stay with me." I shrugged.
Weiss went back to eating, and I pet her gently, returning to my reading, or pretending to, as I listened to Eliza's reaction.
"So... Hmm... and what powers does she have? I've never seen a Germanic Chimera." She asked.
"I don't know yet. She seems to be able to melt things with her breath, though, which is a very weird, but cool, power." I chuckled, and Weiss laid down in my lap, snoring immediately.
"That is very cool. Think she'd melt Stacy Tradwell's chair under her for me?" She sighed, laying on Aurelius, who purred gently when she touched him.
