Chapter 18 - Are You Back?

Here it is! Sorry it took so long! I also wanted to say that Kat is portrayed by; Selena Gomez, and their couple name is; Skat. I will ne using this in a future chapter! X

"Hello- ello-ello!" I say, walking into Becker's office with a spring in the step.
"Morning...what's all this?" He asks, laughing a little as he points up and down at mood.
"What? Can't a girl be in a good mood, without people ask question?" I say, mocking being insulted.
"Funny...but it's good to see you so happy" Becker says, slinging his arm around me and throwing me into a fake headlock.
"Becker...get off me!" I say, knowing exactly what he was about to do.
"Or what Katherine?" He ask, using my full name, before he ruffles his hand over my hair making it messy.
"Or this!" I say, punching him in the stomach – hard enough to wind him but not hard enough to do any damage. He lets go as he lets out a loud grunt.
"I'm just gunna..." I say, pointing to the open door before sprinting out of his office.
By the time I reach the hub, I slow down my pace so that I'm walking. I nod to Lester as I pass his office only to be met with something hard. I look up and smile.
"Danny!" I say, as I jump into his arms for a hug.
"Are you back now? For good?" I ask eagerly as we pull apart.
"Yep. Sorted out everything and I've finished all the tests or whatever they were that they wanted me to complete." Danny says, making me laugh at his jokey pissed off face.
"Good" I say, right as Becker walks into the hub calling my name, closely followed by Stephen.
"Oh god! Hide me!" I say, crouching down behind a desk, Danny moving to cover me.
"Hey mate. You seen Kat anywhere?" Becker asks, patting Danny on the shoulder.
"Erm, no mate...only just got here" Danny says, covering for me. I knew this is why I like this guy! He's such a great friend!
"Alright, if you see her tell her we're looking for her" Stephen says, before he and Becker make their way in the direction of my office/lab. Once they leave, I get up.
"What was that about?" Danny ask smirking.
"Oh that? – Becker messed up my hair, so I punch him in the gut" I say, making him laugh.
"You haven't changed, have you?"
"Not at all Danny boy" I say calling him by his nickname I gave him that I know he hates. Just as I playfully punch him on the arm the A.D.D sounds, making us turn professional and walk over to Jess.

"What have we got Jess?" Matt says, as he enters the hub – the others not far behind him.
"I've already loaded the address into the cars. It's in the shopping centre. North side, 2nd floor. I've pulled security cam footage and it doesn't look like anything has come through yet" Jess says, as Connors hands everyone a black box and coms set.
"Right, lets get going" I say, as we all rush to the carpark.
"I'm driving" I say, hoping into the driver's seat of the first car. Stephen & Danny soon joining me – Danny in the back.
"So how's things?" Danny asks, looking at the pair of us as our hands interlock – having not be around for the past few weeks.
"Great, couldn't be better." I say, smiling at Stephen before glancing back at Danny to watch him smile wildly. You see ever since we met Danny and I got along like me and Becker – he's like an older brother to me.

"When we get there, I want Kat & Danny to sweep the first section of the 1st floor. Abby & Becker take the second half. Me, Connor, Emily & Stephen will take the 2nd floor." Matt says, as we get a few blocks away from the shopping centre.
"Copy" I say, followed by everyone else so Matt knows we all heard.

As we arrive we pull out outside and each grab an EMD. Load of people are already outside and being contained by other soldiers from the ARC.
"Come on Danny boy" I say, as we all head into the building, before splitting up.
"So, you and Stephen..." Danny says – obviously wanting the latest details.
"We're good."
"He makes you happy?" Danny asks, and we make our way through each shop, clearing it for and creatures or an anomaly.
"Yes. He...he gets me. Ya know?" I ask, glancing at him.
"Yeah – that's good" Danny says nudging me before we continue to sweep the 1st floor.

"Guys we've found the anomaly – second floor. We need help getting this creature through – never seen it before!" Abby says over the radio making us sprint to the stairs.
"Copy – we're on our way" Danny says, as we start heading up the stairs.
"Abby where about is-" I start, only to be cut off by an almighty roar followed by pounding footsteps. When we come face to face, my heart rate increases, and Abby was right- this is a new creature that we've never seen before. It's looks like a mixture of a wolf, shark and T-rex if you asked me. With a shot from both Danny and I, the creature goes down.
"We've got it. Was this it?" I ask, wanting to know if this was the only thing that came through.
"Yeah, that's it...what is it?" Becker asks.
"Ermm, I'm not sure. I think its might be a zincocapruzeus." I say, after examining the creature before standing up.
"A what now?" Danny asks with a confused face.
"Oh – It's kind of like a wolf, with shark teeth with a mix of tiger" Stephen says, stepping closer to me. I smile at his description which doesn't go unnoticed by the others.
"You two are perfect for each other – you're both nerds" Matt says, making us all chuckle before we get back to the task at hand. Getting this creature back through the anomaly before it closes. After a lot of pulling and pushing we managed to get the monster sized creature through the anomaly and luckily the anomaly closed a few minutes later. After packing up the gear, we all got in the truck -exhausted – and headed back to the ARC.

"Right, we're off. We'll see you tomorrow." Stephen says to the others as I lean tiredly on his arm.
"Night" Matt says, as the others get ready to leave as well. We say night to Jess before heading out to the car. I don't really remember the car ride home but when I briefly woke up Stephen was taking my shoes off and climbing into bed himself. I turn around so that my head is on his chest.
"I love you" He says, kissing my head.
"Love you too" I say snuggling down before letting my heavy eyes finally close.
