Chapter 25 - To Infinity and Beyond

"Here we are...home sweet home" Kat said, as they entered their apartment, baby in toe. Stephen placed the carrier down on the kitchen counter. Shaylynn was fast asleep in the comforts of her carrier. Kat carefully unclipped her and picked her up. Shay woke up but for once didn't fuss. She layyed comfortable in the warm embrace of her mother's arms.
"And this is your room" Kat said in a cheery voice as she entered the room that they had decorated for Shay behind Stephen.

Kat carefully placed Shay in her cot. Shay looked straight up at the mobile above her. Kat stood back with Stephen as they watched Shay drift off back to sleep.

"She's perfect..." Kat said quietly.
"That's because we made her" Stephen joked, making Kat laugh. Stephen wrapped his arms around Kat's waist so that his chest was on her back. He placed his chin on her shoulder.
"I could stand here all day" Kat smiled.
"Me too...but come on. Let's try and sleep whilst she does" Stephen said, taking her hand in his and carefully pulling her away from the cot.
"Good idea" She said, quietly closing the door behind her and moving into their bedroom. Connor had installed a camera in the bedroom, so you could so Shay's cot from their baby monitor. Making sure it was switch on loudly, Kat rested her head on Stephen's chest.
"Who'd of thought it..." Stephen said quietly.
"What?" Kat asked, running her fingers over his chest.
"A little over a year and a half ago...I met you. I moved in with you...and I fell in love with you. Now, we're married, we have the perfect daughter and we have the best group of friends" Stephen said happily before kissing her head.
"When you put it like that...it all sounds a bit crazy doesn't it" Kat laughed...as her eyes became heavy.

Kat must have fallen asleep because when she woke, a few hours had gone by and Stephen wasn't in bed. She heard talking from the baby monitor, so she turned on the camera screen and smiled at what she saw. Stephen was sat in the rocking chair with Shaylynn on his bare chest. She was spread out across his chest, obviously fast asleep and Stephen was rubbing her back, talking quietly. After a few minutes, Kat got up from bed and quietly made her way into the other room.
"Hey..." Stephen said quietly once he saw Kat stood in the doorframe.
"Hi" She said, moving to look at her daughter.
"She woke up...I didn't want to wake you, so I came in here" Stephen said.
"Thanks you..." Kat smiled, giving him a kiss. The moment was ruined by Shay crying.
"I think someone's hungry" Kat laughed, carefully picking up Shay from his chest.
"Can you make up a bottle?" Kat asked, as she went to change Shay's nappy.
"Of course" Stephen said, walking out into the kitchen. They had decided to bottle feed Shay, as problems with breastfeeding ran in Kat's family.
"Here you go" Stephen said walking back into the room and handing Kat the bottle as she was now sat in the rocking chair with Shay. Shay must have been hungry because she drank the bottle quickly.
"How did I get so lucky?" Stephen asked, as he watched his beautiful wife, feed their amazing little precious daughter.
"I love you" Kat said, as she burped Shay.
"I love you too..." Stephen said, bending to kiss her.
"And I love you too princess" Stephen laughed, as Shay reached out to him. Shay let out a small smile, making both her parents smile.
"If this is our forever and always...I would want it any other way" Kat said quietly after a few minutes.
"Me neither" Stephen agreed, letting Shay play with his finger. Kat stood up and placed Shay back in her cot. She patted her belly.
"To infinity..."She whispered, reading off her favourite part of the bedroom wall, which was inspired by her love for Disney.
"And beyond" Stephen finished, reaching down to kiss Shay on the forehead as she drifted off to sleep.
