Chapter 3

Newtskip felt his heart race as he and the Clan padded to the Gathering two nights later. He wanted so desperately to talk to Icefrost. As they entered the clearing, Newtskip became aware of how few DuskClan cats were there. Only four! Newtskip caught sight of Icefrost, sitting by herself near the Great Birch. Newtskip ran over and sat next to her, their tails twinning. Haystar climbed up onto the Great Birch beside Spiderstar. "Let the Gathering begin!" He yowled, " DawnClan has been doing well, with Mouseheart and Ripplewind being the parents of three toms. Owlkit, Cedarkit, and Gullkit. " the clearing rippled with excited murmurs of congratulations. "Prey has been running well this new-leaf as well." Haystar continued, hushing the noise, " And I'm glad things are finally peaceful between DuskClan and DawnClan after Leapstar's death. " he nodded to Spiderstar, allowing him to speak. "DuskClan has very few cats." Icefrost's brother announced, " But prey is running just fine. And I am also pleased that both Clans have finally put aside the war. " Haystar dipped his head in respect for the DuskClan leader. "Then this Gathering has come to an end. All Clans dismissed." Icefrost stared at Newtskip, love gleaming in her eyes. "Meet me tomorrow night at the border. Okay?" Newtskip nodded, and they touched noses before following their Clans out of the clearing. 

 Newtskip dreamed after he returned to the DawnClan camp from the Gathering. He was standing in a starry forest, many stars glowed above in the sky. Seedspots appeared before him, her glittering pelt shining in the moonlight filtering through the forest trees. "Hello, my son." She purred, beckoning Newtskip forward with her tail. He stepped up to his mother. She looked into his eyes, "Remember the prophecy. You will be a great cat to them. You have love in your heart." Seedspots then began to fade, along with the dream. " Wait! " Newtskip called, "Who's 'them'?! What do you mean?! Come back!" Then the dream vanished.
