Do you ever wonder what it would have been like - to never have fallen in love?
Silk would just be a fabric

Of what clouds powdered in blush would feel like
It would just be the slipperiness of a tongue brushing against a lower lip
The way water drips down a shoulderYou and I would just be another swatch of fabric
Two different ingredients never meant to mix
And I would not flinch to feel someone else's hands on me
You would not chase me half way around the world for a goodbye sealed in the envelope of my mouthSometimes I wish I never loved you
Even now as I look I can feel silk on my hips
It has become b o i l i n g h o t water
No liquid suede or bruising fingers
Just blisters over already scarred skinBut I bought a silk dress today
I felt it brush against me like waves
It pulled me until I was in the middle of the sea- do you wonder what it would be like if we had never fallen in love? -
I imagine it would be like never touching silk
Never knowing the soothing touch
Of cool breath on bare skin
