‘No matter how far I run, your attacks still find me. I’m shattered glass once again. Can’t you just let it be? Call off the attacks and let me weep. Quick, clean your wounds before she returns. Quick, grab the glue. Hold the cracks together, she’s returning. Heartless monster who answers to mother just give me some more time!’ – Riley May – Broken Shards

I giggled softly under my breath as I watched an old episode of The Simpsons, Homer was laughing like an utter and complete maniac that was so hilarious and yet I found so utterly adorable. I had told Chad plenty of times that if Homer was real I’d marry that guy simply because life would never be dull and he was simply stupidly adorable – something Chad couldn’t understand at all.

“Hey you,” a voice startled me from behind me “did a certain someone forget our date tonight?” they taunted in amusement, a smile clearly upon his face without even having to turn around and look.

I blushed guiltily “Crap, is it six thirty already?” I asked as I looked at the time on my mobile to only be confirmed by the time.

Chad leant his chin down on the back of the couch as he looked down at me smiling softly “Have you been watching The Simpsons all day?” he asked amused.

I shook my head “No, I fell asleep here on the lounge at lunch and I woke up not long ago and…” I trailed off anxiously running my fingers through my messy hair.

Chad frowned down at me as he gently pushed my fingers out of my hair and he in turn ran his fingers gently through my hair as he spoke “Did you sleep bad last night?” he murmured softly.

I frowned shaking my head, my head tensing and throbbing in protest. Apparently my painful headache was still here to torture me leaving me feeling sluggish and heady, like a brick was sitting right in the front of my head, in my temples. It was that headache alone that had me curling up on the couch watching a movie lazily to only fall asleep within the first five minutes. I had prayed that by resting and taking a nap the headache would be gone in time for our date, but apparently not.

“Nah, I think she’s just feeling under the weather.” Dad said stepping into the lounge room coming from the kitchen with a mug of coffee and a magazine as he looked up, his heavy footfalls making me grimace softly “She said she had a headache before.”

Chad’s frown only deepened as he held the back of his hand against my forehead, his cool touch utterly refreshing as I sighed softly, my eyes fluttered closed as I leant further into his touch in bliss for a rare moment today. “Mmmm,” he hummed in disapproval “you are rather hot.”

My lips quirked up softly, “Thank you.” I teased back weakly.

Chad chuckled softly as he kissed the top of my head “How about we give tonight a miss, since you’ve got a headache and all.”

I looked up at him, shaking my head earnestly to only grimace “No,” I whined “I’ll just take an aspirin and then we can go.”

Chad frowned “I don’t know….” He trailed off unsure “We’ve got to go back into Clef tomorrow and we can’t afford you being sick, you wouldn’t want to miss it.”

My eyes grew as I pouted “But I really wanted to go out on our date.”

Chad’s lips quirked before his eyes softened again “Baby we were just going out for a movie and pizza; we can catch the movie tomorrow.” He murmured softly.

It had been just over a week since our meeting at Clef and we had signed along the dotted lines of the contract. Since then all four of us had just been relaxing and basking in what we had left of holidays of another three or so weeks before school came back and our work at Clef began. Chad and I had finally gone on our first double date with Luce and Brent and it was exactly like hanging out, except now I could kiss Chad any damn time I wanted to. I didn’t care about all the free time; I spent every moment I could with Chad greedily and yet dreamily happy.
