Let me ask you a question. If you had had days upon days of weird things happening to you, would you feel depressed? Because that's how I felt.
Sitting beside the fire, I listened to the others.
"But then after we defeated the mud monssster, Toxin magically showed up." Venom explained.
Anti-Venom watched Carnage and Toxin, who were playing marbles with round rocks. Whenever Carnage knocked a rock out, Toxin had a bad habit of eating them.
Finally Carnage lunged at Toxin, "Idiot!" They both tumbled around the campsite.
Peter laughed, "Man you guys really are like brothers."
I didn't feel like laughing much. My eyes had returned to their normal sight, so I could see again. Even though I should have been happy, I just . . . wasn't.
Riptide snored away behind me, pulling the slightest bit of a smile. He was a good dragon/friend, uh, thing.
Phantom seemed a little worried, Sparrow, why are you so quiet?
"I'm not gonna answer that," I muttered softly.
Phantom huffed, Fine. Don't talk to your bonded one. I see how it is.
"Oh come on, it's not like that," I said grumpily, twisting my mask in my hands.
Phantom didn't say anything after that.
Anti-Venom stood beside me, "Are you all right, Sparrow?"
I laughed a little, "No. Look around. This is almost over the limit. Different planet, aliens, dragons. I mean, this is really nuts. Over the top crazy."
Anti-Venom was quiet for a minute. He watched his brothers, then turned back to me, "I understand. We all feel that way. Even Phantom. But . . . we have to work together to get through it."
I looked down at my mask, the flickering light of the crystals casting a ghostly shadow across it.
"When I started being a vigilante," I hung my head a little, "I- messed up on my first night out. I didn't want to keep going. I wanted to give up, just not be a hero.
"I went home. Mom wasn't there of course, so I went in without taking this off." I tapped my mask, "That's when I saw the picture of my dad. He- died. A long time ago. I don't really know how, but something about him kept me going."
My hair fell into my eyes, which I didn't bother to brush away. I didn't want anyone to see that my eyes were watering.
Anti-Venom let out a heavy sigh, "You made the right choice. If you hadn't become a hero, we wouldn't be here right now. All of us would still be apart, and we all would probably have torn each other apart."
Phantom's voice was soft, I'm sorry, Sparrow. I should have known- treated you better . . .
I couldn't help but smiling a little, "Thanks. It, means a lot to me. Both of you."
Anti-Venom nodded. Even Phantom seemed a little happier.
Peter stepped on a blue crystal, "Hey guys- what the OWWWW!!!" He jumped back and grabbed his foot, "What is that?!"
I grinned, "No idea. But it packs a punch."
Toxin grunted, plucking blue crystals up from the ground, "Taste good."
He popped them into his mouth.
Riptide snorted in his sleep and rolled over, almost crushing me and Anti-Venom.
I jumped out of the way, Anti-Venom close behind.
"Hey, uh, guys?" Peter stood up, "Do you hear that?"
I pulled my mask on, "The crystals are fading."
The darkness consumed the campsite. Riptide huffed and raised his head, growling.
"I've got a bad feeling," Peter whispered.
"Welcome to my world, Earthlings." The familiar voice of the Hunter growled, "How do you like the scenery?"
Riptide dug his claws into the dirt, his eyes smoldering a bright green. The symbiote brothers stood together, and Peter stood beside me.
I looked around the dark trees, "If you're looking for a fight, Kaine, come and get it. You've only made us stronger by bringing us here."
Riptide lashed his tail, snarling low in his throat.
"Just because that River Guardian is on your side doesn't mean you'll win against me, boy."
The crystals dimmed until they looked like clumps of rock.
The demon walked out into our field of vision. His claws glowing an unnatural shade of purple. (Although I don't really know what's natural at this planet . . . so, yeah.)
I rested my hand on Riptide, "Hold on, bud. You can fight soon."
Kaine snapped his fingers. The sound echoed throughout the forest, brining up the question, why the heck did he do that?
Got my answer too soon.
Glowing eyes appeared in the shadowy trees. I instantly knew that we were facing a huge number of dragons. I couldn't see them, but I knew I didn't want to fight a lizard army.
"What do we do, brother?" Venom asked, even his voice trembling.
"We fight." Anti-Venom said confidently.
The dragons came out of the trees and waited for Kaine's approval.Kaine smiled, "Good luck, symbiotes."
A sharp whistle cut through the forest, and the dragon's charged us.(HAHAHAHA. Another cliffhanger. And yeah, I know. This thing is starting to get really ridiculous. Lololol, I like it. Anyway, hope you liked it too. GET READY FOR MORE ACTION. Oh, and fair warning: something's about to happen that I'm thinking all of you are going to hate. Hehehehehe.)
