Chapter 11: Endless thoughts

"What am I to do with everything that has happened,how will I face Darrin when he finds out Zack and I broke up ? What am I gonna tell Allen ? Oh gosh I hate myself for leading him on like that !" Poor, poor Phoenix, love isn't something to toy around with, especially at only 15 years old. Phoenix thought long and hard at what to do about this situation and ended up coming with a solution.
"Allen you're a great guy, don't get me wrong, but you and I are better off friends, I just came out of a lousy relationship, let's not rush things please..." and there it was, a feeling that felt like salvation, finally, she could have peace and time to focus on the important things in life, which were of course, school,church,family and most importantly her own wellbeing

Before she knew it, it was time to get up and go to school, back to the hell that she so drastically tried to avoid, she got up with all her might and went to get ready. "Ouma,is jy okei?(grandma are you okay?)" Asked Phoenix as her grandmother was preparing breakfast for her, "you know I can cook right ? I really want to start living a normal life ouma, please help me do that, with everything that is happening between my parents I just can't cope, not to mention the FET ball ! I don't think I'll go..." she was interrupted by her grandmother "Nonsense! Kleinkie you have to go to that ball and have fun, live a little ! And as for your parents, don't let them bother you, just focus on you Kleinkie, you don't want to end up having sugar diabetes or high blood at a young age because of stress, now, eat your breakfast and go to school,let the adults worry about adult business,okay ?
She got to school and it felt as if everyone was looking at her and somewhat examining a new species, she walked to class but before she could get there, Darrin was waiting for her in the corridor that led to her classroom. "Phoenix,tell me, why do you stick to routine so well?"he asked before she could pass by him, "what do you mean Darrin ?I don't stick to routine" she said trying to defend herself, "I heard about your break up with Zack by the way". What ! They broke up like literally yesterday how did he know about it so quickly ?! Okay, okay let's dial it back a bit, Darrin had been secretly stalking Phoenix's so called boyfriend and he knew everything about their relationship, he knew Zack was cheating but didn't want to tell Phoenix because he had feared that she would think he is weird, yes Darrin is a huge ass but his feelings for Phoenix seemed sincere, after all if he wanted to play her like the other girls, he would have...Phoenix put together all her might and asked Darrin what she desperately wanted to ask all along "What's it to you Darrin? Why do you care so much about who I'm involved with, just stop it okay ! I don't want Sia getting any ideas about you and I, you don't know me, so please, start acting like it"... "I love you, Phoenix" is what he so wanted to say but instead he agreed and fled to join his pack before school begun

So school had begun and Darrin was feeling the worst pain he could possibly feel at that moment."Why didn't you just tell her how you really feel,like you had planned,you're just a fool Darrin Woolf,you'll never get her now... why do you stick to routine? Really ?" Darrin thought to himself, nobody knew about how he felt about Phoenix, he, himself wasn't so sure, Sia wasn't the girl Darrin wanted to be with, he only dated her because of her attitude towards people but no matter how he tried, he just couldn't change her, Darrin loved experiments and he took every relationship he had as one,with Phoenix he felt like there was nothing to fix like she was this perfect being, not to mention how beautiful she was and how intelligent too !

" Phoenix... can we talk ?" The voice sounded oddly familiar, it was Vicky ! After all this time? She constantly avoided Phoenix because of Terrence and what had happened. "Vicky, I'm sorry for what happened, I never thought it would turn out the way it did, Terrence and I were..." as Phoenix was trying to explain, Vicky stopped her "I know you and Terrence were only friends,he tried explaining it to me but Sia had already filled my head with untruths and words that would make me despise you,I should be the one apologizing,I'm really sorry! You were a really good friend of mine and I loved the relationship we shared, again, I'm sorry...I saw you today speaking to Darrin,I thought I should tell you that Darrin is not what you think he is, please Phoenix, I like you a lot and I don't want you to get hurt, please listen to me"...

Of course Phoenix thought about what Vicky said, who wouldn't? This added to her other thoughts and ended up making her overwhelmed and anxious about Darrin or any other boy for that matter. March exams were fast approaching and ms Latu was caught thinking about more then just her studies at that moment, so days went on and it was exam season at Oriental High School, pupils were frantic,nervous and uneased by the whole situation, may I ask, who likes tests ?

"Can I borrow your calculator?" Why would Darrin be needing a calculator from Phoenix? And why did Phoenix give it to him ? "Just make sure you bring it back, I have a math test in two days and I'll need it"...calculator love, that's what I call it...Phoenix got home and started texting on her phone. Mom had "forgotten" to pay her caller id again so she didn't know who was calling her, she had 58 missed calls from an unknown number, she asked herself "who would be calling me so much, was there an emergency? And if so, how would I be beneficial" not a lot of people at school had her number and she only had like 3 contacts that called her on regular basis, her mother, father and grandmother, she had all their numbers saved on her phone, so they would appear if it was them calling. Phoenix was very strict on who was allowed to have her number and knew everyone that did have her number ! Who was this mystery caller ? It wasn't until she got a text message saying "I'm attracted..."  from a number that she didn't recognise where she got thought of maybe the person who called her, is the same person who sent her this text. So now she had a number but was reluctant to call and find out who it was

Baffled as she was , she didn't call ! She just thought of possible people that would send her the text but never arrived to a possible suspect.... Phoenix will you ever learn !
