Sitting in my bath tub, knees pulled to my sadly small chest, I desperately prayed to Shai for good luck today. I silently begged Hathor to make me beautiful for just once. Getting out of my tub water, I stood naked in the mirror, and sighed knowing that once again my prayers hadn't been answered. Being an Egyptian who still worshiped the ancient gods was hard enough, never mind being the only Egyptian who still worshiped the ancient gods, while floating through space! Sometimes I wondered if the gods could even hear me this far from their kingdom. Dressing myself in my red Engineering uniform, I sighed and muttered one more prayer to Shai. Walking out of my quarters, my prayers seemed to be answered for once in my life, as I ran into my long-time boyfriend, Montgomery Scott upon exit.
"Hello lassie, how are those Gods of yours this fine morning?" I could only giggle as I finished tying my hair into a rough ponytail.
"Unresponsive as always, my dearest."
"Ah, I see." was his simple reply. Working with my boyfriend as my boss never seised to be interesting, today was no exemption. Between sneaking off to make out behind pipes, and giving me easy jobs, my work day was pretty damn easy. Maybe my faith was finally being recognized. After a long day in Engineering, Scotty and I decided to hang out in my quarters for supper. Leaving him to wait in my living room, I stripped out of my uniform and stood almost naked in the mirror for the second time that day. I traced every imperfection across my body. From how I held a bit two much weight in my core, to my thick thighs, lack of arm muscle, and too broad shoulders. My weirdly small hands held my disappointingly small breasts as I looked at my flat as hell ass. Moving from my body to my face, I noticed all the new acne that spread across my cheeks and nose. I pulled my shoulder length black out of its constrictions and sighed when it fell flat. It seemed only one prayer had been answered. I was so focused on examining my flaws, that I didn't even notice Scotty come up from behind me until he wrapped his arms around my waist.
"Lassie, what are you staring at yourself for?"
"It's nothing." I stated simply as threw on some sweats and a tank top.
"Oh it's definitely something alright, you've been in here for an hour."
"Oh shoot! I'm sorry love!"
"It's fine. Just tell me what's bothering you love?"
"Ugh! Look at me! I have no abs, no arm muscle, my shoulders are too broad, my thighs are to thick, my acne is getting bad, my cheeks are too chubby, my boobs are too small, my ass is way crazy flat, my hair doesn't style and I have crazy small hands! My nose is too big and I'm far too pale to be Egyptian!" I finished my rant, panting, leaning my head back so it rested on his shoulder. "Why are you still with me?"
Scotty sighed and lead me back out to my couch where we sat down to cuddle.
"Lassie, I see a gorgeous girl, who is too focused on all the small details. When you bake a cake, do you judge how it ktastes by the flavour of the flour or baking soda? No you judge it by the whole package. Stop nitpicking and thank Hathor you born naturally beautiful." I was stunned. For one he made a baking analogy, and for two he referred to MY gods. Correctly, might I add.
"And for the record, I'm still with you cause I love you." That was the first I love you.
"Scotty, I, I love you too! So very much, thank you." And even though, that night, after he left, when I looked in the mirror i still saw everything I'd seen before, this time I ignored it, and tried to be happy with myself, for his sake if anything.

A/N: Hi guys! So. I'm back! I really hope you guys like this chapter, and I would just like you to know, that the description that the main character gives about herself, is one I've given about me. Word for word, minus the part about being Egyptian, I had said Metis. Anywho, I hope you enjoyed!
