Chapter Ten ~ Mama Bear ~

Walking into Sawyer’s school with Luke we both rush to her talent show. Reaching the gym Luke and I enter and all the parents stare at us. I smile and Luke grasps my hand. We take a seat and everyone stares at us, Looking up at the stage I see Sawyer walk up with her head held up high. Luke squeezes my hand and I squeezed back. She starts her poem and I smiled proudly. Luke smiles widely and he was holding my hand tightly. When she steps off Luke claps the loudest and stands up cheering for her.

“Babe sit down.” I whisper and he shyly smiles and then sits back down next to me. everyone stares and I just smile.

Soon the talent show ended and Luke spins Sawyer in his arms while a stand there smiling. He congratulates her on her hard work and great poem. He puts her down and she runs to say hello to her friends. Some parents talk to me and Luke but I manage to keep a close eye on Sawyer. As we were walking out of the gym Luke wraps his arms around my waist and we see Sawyer talking to a little girl with blonde hair and grey eyes. Grasping my hand Luke pulls me to Sawyer and the little girl. As we were walking to her a woman stops us.

“Hello, are you two Sawyer’s parents?” The lady was blonde and had this mean look on her face,

“Yes we are, Who are you?” Luke asks wrapping his arm around my waist once more and pulling me close.

“I’m Daisy's mother. My name is Rose.” great she has a flower name.

“Hi, I’m Luke and this is Elena my wife,” Luke answers and I feel my stomach drop at those words.

“How lovely to meet you two! Well the reason I wanted to talk to you both is because I wanted to know if it was alright for Sawyer and Daisy to have a playdate.” Before Luke could answer I speak up and answer her question,

“I think that would be lovely. When do you want to plan it?”

“Well somewhere this coming week. If you could give me your number I’ll call you and plan this with you.” I nod my head and we exchange numbers. Walking over to Sawyer we tell her it’s time to go and she nods her head. Luke carries her and we walk out of the school like a picture perfect family.

 

Sitting down at the dinner table Sawyer tells us all about her art class. Luke listens while my mind drifts off. Standing up quickly I call my best friend Kelly. She was the friend that DIDN’T sleep with all my boyfriends. She finally answers and I walk out into the balcony to talk to her. Because is has been years since we’ve talked I just wanted to talk with her alone. I somehow needed a friend not just Luke and Sawyer.

“So what you’re telling me is that you are getting paid to date this guy because he’s famous and he is some drug freak? And now you two have a five year old together?”

“Yup.”

“Wow the last time we saw each other we were throwing up in the bathroom and you were so high you thought that the police was a fat dwaf.” Kelly says laughing and I laugh. When we were in high school and college all we did was pass with perfect grades and get drunk and high.

“Those were the days!” Kelly laughs and then we both start bring up our fun past. As we were talking Luke walks out into the balcony and sits next to me. Covering up the phone I talk to Luke.

“Do you need something?”

“Yeah, I didn’t like it how you just walked out on dinner to talk over the phone. Sawyer got really upset.” Luke says upset and I sigh.
