Chapter Nineteen ~ Minnie Luke ~

*Elena POV*

Luke and I walk around the park and Sawyer was at her volleyball practice. I put my hoodie over my head and try not to look at Luke who was trying to figure out when to talk to me. We both sit down on a bench the looked over the lake and I sigh. Looking out at the lake I wait for Luke to speak up and for myself to also speak up. We both don’t say a word and we both continued to look out at the lake. About two hours of no talking and me trying not to lose my mind I get up and start walking away.

“Elena. Elena wait.” Luke turns me around and I look up at him. He look much old. Duh. But his lip piercing was no longer there. He had a few tattoos but only a few and they were small. He looked taller then again I must have looked shorter. He strokes my cheek and I sigh closing my eyes. Then I remembered that he had a kid and maybe a wife. I push his hand away from my cheek and I step away from him.

“Why did you come Luke? I told that you had to turn away and never look back. To forget about me and Sawyer.”

Can we talk about this back at your house?” Luke says looking down at his shoes. I nod my head and we get in my car. Once we were at the house I saw that Sawyer wasn’t back yet and that she would probably be with Daisy. I put away my jacket and put away Luke’s jacket. We go into the living room but Luke says he wants to talk in the kitchen. I understood why. I sit down on the countertop while he stands up pacing around the kitchen.  I wait for him to talk and finally he speaks up.

“Elena. When I went away Daniella and I had a beautiful baby boy. I love him with all my heart. His name is Danny.” Luke says smiling to himself and I nod my head. “Even though I love him and he was my first child I could never love his mum the way I loved you.” I look up at him and sigh.

“Luke, please don-”

“Let me finish Elena.” I nod my head and I let him keep talking. “Everyday without you was hell. I drank here and there just to get rid of the pain. Every year I would send Sawyer a birthday card. I’m guessing you didn’t know about it.”

“That explains why she always had money.” I say thinking of all the time she would come to the living room counting her money. Luke chuckles and nods his head.

“Last year I don’t know how but Sawyer got a hold of my number. She called me and we talked. I found out that I shouldn’t have listened to you Elena. I should have stayed with you and Sawyer. I’m always going to come back for you Elena.” I look up at him and I felt like all the air in my lungs were gone. “I love you Elena. Only you.” Jumping off the counter top and walk to him and I place my hands on his face.

“Maybe you shouldn’t have come back Luke.” I walk to my room and lay down on my bed. Looking up at the ceiling I sigh and feel tears run down my face. Sitting up I walk down the stairs to see Luke and Sawyer on the couch talking.

That night I drag Luke out to the backyard and I sit him down so that I could talk. I look up at the sky to see all the stars and airplanes. The moon was full and lighted up the sky. There was a cool breeze and everything was quiet. Nothing could ruin it but as always I was wrong.

“What happened to Daniella? Did you leave her?” I ask Luke while looking up at the sky.

“No, we both realized that we weren’t good together. Danny was our main focus in life. But what you have to understand Elena is that it might seem like I come back every time to look after Sawyer but that’s not it. Maybe sometime I use Sawyer as an excuse to see you.” Look back at Luke I sigh and rest my head on the table and look back at him.
