[Chapter 1: The Random Asian Who Is In The Bad Part Of Town]
One thing that I regret not having, is a car. It's late at night, and I just got finished with work and I'm walking in the complete darkness. The only thing that is giving me light is my phone, street lights, and the very few car lights. I'm usually home during this time of night, but considering that I need some extra money I decided that me working over time is highly needed.
I turned the corner to see a whole bunch of men talking and drinking beers as I kept my head down slowly walking buy as I started to approach the bus stop as I sat down on the bench and called my my boyfriend, Lamar.
It ring a couple of times before it went to voicemail. I sighed as I hung up and put my phone back into my pocket. A couple of minutes passed by as I heard a noise behind me as I turned back and saw that nothing was there. Nothing.
I bit my lip, a habit of mine that I do when I'm nervous or scared, as I sighed looking at the watch on my wrist to see the bus was already 10 minutes late. "Excuse me m'am?" I looked up to see an Asian man looking at me.
"Yes, Can I help you?" I responded back. You can obviously tell that I was scared because for one, this is the bad part of town. I'm not scared that this is the bad part of town but there is a random Asian dude in the bad part of town. Where have you ever seen an Asian man in the hood... other then trying to sell a pair of knock of Jordans?
"Well I am trying to catch the bus here to go back to Oakland Woods Road and I just so happen to loose my bus schedule. Do you know when the bus comes here?" he asked me as I nodded.
"It was suppose to come here at 9:30.." I trailed off as he nodded wincing.
"Damn, it's almost 20 minutes late.." he responded sitting on the bench as I nodded. "So why are you here by yourself this late at night?" He asked me as I sighed.
"I was staying over at a friends house..." I lied. To be honest I really didn't know this dude, and I don't like having conversations with people I don't really know. Yeah something so small like saying, 'oh I worked overnight down at the hardware store' or 'oh I just worked over night' can give people so much information now a days. Well that is what my daddy said.
"Hmm interesting.." he replied as he looked around. "You know it's bad to lie to people right?" he told me as I stared at him.
"Excuse me?"
"Well for starters there are no way you could be leaving a friends house because their are no houses around here for miles.. and even if it was you could probably catch a bus a couple of miles away from here." he replied smirking at me.
Shit...
"And your body language is saying way more. You keep bouncing your legs, your fiddling with your fingers, and on top of that... by the oil that is on your hands and your work uniform you are just getting off of work Janae..." he told me as I stood up but it was too late. He opened his coat to show a gun as he looked at the bench. I got the hint and sat down.
"H-How do you know my name?" I asked him as he chuckled.
"Hmm... I see that your dad has been keeping cover from his work from you. That's what I like about Mike. Mike is a family man, he cared about his child." he replied as he turned to look at me.
"This is what we are going to do.. when we get on the bus you are going to sit down and your are going to show me where your house is. And don't do anything stupid because for one... with one just one phone call I'll have your mommy and daddy killed with just one word.. got it?" he asked me as I nodded. The bus rolled up as we got in as he paid for me... how nice of him.
