"Now what?"

I wondered

Shooting her a puzzled look.

She shrugged

Twirling a piece of hair

Around a finger.

"Now we find adventure."

"Where would we find adventure?"

She grinned madly

Looking both beautiful

And demonic

If that were ever possible

But it was captivating

And rare

And made my heart race

Like running a marathon

That never seemed to end.

"Wherever we choose to go."

"Well, do you think

We'll find adventure

In a local convenience store

Because I'm quite hungry

And I'm craving some sour gummies."

Rose laughed

A musical sound

And nodded.

"I think there's adventures there.

Just think of how many people

Used the convenience store

As a place to cry late at night

And escape their realities

And snack on food without getting caught

And enjoy the peace and quiet

Of the slight humming

That escapes the refrigerated section."

I had actually never thought

About all the people

Who find adventure in a store

But something told me

That Rose had gone there

At some point or another

In search of escapism as well.
