🎵🎵 Alex and Sierra - Little Did You Know
Dedicated to funnilyenough
They set out at dawn. Ella,Lois, David and Mr. Mensa. Mrs. Clarke hugged her daughters for a long time, not wanting to let go. The tears in her eyes were visible even at that time of the day.
"If anything happens, you call me. Do you understand?", she said to Ella while she cupped Lois' face.
"Definitely mom", Ella responded. She wasn't used to displaying her emotion but she felt sad that her parents weren't going with them.
After Lois' accident, they had never had the best of relationship but she loved her parents, they made her angry sometimes but she really loved them.
"I love the two of you so much",Mrs. Clarke clasped her hands and looked at them.
"They have to go, Isabella", Mr. Clarke said to his wife.
Lois was dozing a lot and David and Mr. Mensa stood there awkwardly looking at Mrs.Clarke displaying her affection for her kids. She was the strong and unemotional type so the awkwardness was even worse.
Mrs.Clarke nodded to her husband and he wrapped her in his arms.Lois was lifted from her wheelchair by Mr.Mensa and entered the RV where he dropped her in the room she and Ella would be sharing on he bus. They had agreed that Ella and Lois would share the only room on the RV so that Ella could watch over her sister carefully and David and Mr. Mensa would take use the two of the seats in the RV as beds since the could be extended into beds.
David folded Lois' wheelchair and followed Mr.Mensa into the RV.Ella stood there with her hands in her pockets looking at her parents.
"I'll take good care of her, promise." she said to her parents.
"And take good care of yourself too." Mr.Clarke said to his daughter.
She ran to her parents and hugged them tightly.
"I love you guys." Ella whispered.
"We love you too." Mrs.Clarke said.
*. *. *
Ella dropped like a fly beside her sister on the bed. She was exhausted, not because it was dawn and she woke up early but also because she didn't actually sleep early and had spent the night thinking about the trip and what could happen if anything went wrong. She had caused her sister's accident and didn't think she could live with herself if anything happened to Lois on the trip. A trip that she had thought of.
She was almost deep in sleep when she felt someone spread a bed sheet over her and Lois and give her a peck on the cheek.
David, this guy is just the best. She thought before finally falling deep in sleep.*. *. *
"They are asleep?" Mr.Mensa asked David without taking his eyes off the road when he sat beside him.
"Yeah." David said and stretched himself in his seat.
"Your dad and I took a road trip once after high school." Mr. Mensa said.
"Really? How was it", David turned to Mr.Mensa, excited to learn something new about his dad.
"Immature but awesome. That was when I started calling him Laser actually. We had stopped at a rest stop and we didn't have any money on us. Then he goes to the reception area and tells the manager that we are broke and need money. He came back and said to me 'These laser eyes have power'."
"I burst out in laughter and we drove off. He did it a few times to get us out of trouble and the I started calling him Laser. It kinda stuck."
David smiled and closed his eyes imagining what Mr.Mensa had just said.
Suddenly he jerked up and shouted,
"Stop the bus!"Mr.Mensa stepped on the brake slowly and the bus came to a screeching halt.
"What's wrong?""I left Lois' medicine on the Clarkes' dinner table", he said and brushed his hand through his hair.
"What?!", Mr.Mensa said and stared at him dumbfounded.
