🎵🎵Ed Sheeran - Happier
Ella rushed to her sister, the sleepiness leaving her eyes immediately. She knelt beside her and began patting her back.
"Dave, please get her some water." she told David and he rushed out of the room.
Moments later, the bus stopped and Tom and David entered the room. Ella was still crouched by her sister and her coughing had reduced.
There was spittle of blood on her mouth and on the floor."What's wrong?", Tom asked as David gave Lois the water to drink.
She looked out of breath and was panting."I don't know", Ella said and turned to her sister. "Have you been taking all your medicine?"
"Yes. I have." Lois looked at her for a moment and continued sipping the water slowly, as if afraid that it might choke her.
" Don't lie to me Lois", Ella stared fiercely at her sister.
"Okay maybe not all of them. Some of the pills are too bitter and they keep melting in my mouth!"
"Why do you keep doing this Lois? Don't you want to get better? Should we turn back and go home?"
"NO! Please, I just thought nothing would happen if I stopped taking them." Lois pleaded.
David and Tom exchanged glances and stood there watching the scene unfolding before their eyes.
"Mom trusted you enough to allow you to take the medicine on your own. Please don't do that again." Ella stared directly at her sister to show her how serious she was.
"Hopefully it won't affect her prognosis when we reach Dr. Gold. We have about 150 miles left to reach him so about 5 days left then we see him." Tom said and went to crouch beside Lois.
"I'm sorry Mr. Mensa." Lois became teary eyed with her voice shaking.
"Just promise not to do that ever again." Tom pulled her into his arms and they sat down for a while until Lois fell asleep.
Tom lifted her onto the bed and quietly, he walked out of the room Ella and David.
They all sat down and Tom said to Ella,
"Has that ever happened before?""I don't think so. Mom would have told me to watch her on that. I was really scared when I saw the blood."
"She'll be fine." David put his hand over Ella's and smiled at her.
"I just hope that there's no long term effect."
"Hey look at me. She'll be fine. Don't worry."
"Thanks David." Ella smiled at him.
"If you lovebirds are going to be staring at each other all day, I'm going back to driving." Tom said rising up.

That evening, Ella prepared spaghetti with meat balls. Despite the event that afternoon, Lois was back to her bubbly self and talked to Mr. Mensa nonstop.
David had two huge helpings on the food and blamed his appetite on Ella's very good cooking skills.
They all laughed and chatted while they ate and after they were done, they gathered around.David had brought the idea that they turn off the lights in the bus and switch on torchlights while they told horror stories. Ella went first, telling them a story she heard about a homeless man who went on a killing spree.
Instead of getting them scared, they laughed their hearts out at Ella's attempt at a horror story.
"Perhaps he was killing them with his body odor." Tom said mid laughter. It was Lois' turn. Her voice became serious all of a sudden and she began her story.
"Jonas went home after soccer practice late one night to find his house empty. He called out for his parents and there was only an eerie silence. Climbing upstairs to his parents' bedroom, he saw blood seeping under their door. Scared, Jonas opened the door quietly but found no one there. Then suddenly, the lights went out!" Lois turned off her torchlight for dramatic effect and one of them screamed."Err, who was that?", Tom asked them looking at David and Ella. It was obvious it was the one of them.
Both of them shrugged their shoulders and David hoped they couldn't see his heart beating very fast. Lois continued the story.
"So Jonas, so scared that his legs were shaking, rushed under the bed and stayed there. He saw a man wearing boots come into the room and leave again. he breathed out a sigh of relief and felt himself pushing against a round object. Thinking it was a football, he picked it and cautiously moved out of the dark room"
"He rushed into his room, locked the door and turned on the lights. He looked into his arms and he wasn't holding a football. He was holding his sister's head!"
Lois switched off her torchlight again and there were two simultaneous screams this time.Tom switched on the lights in the bus and he and Lois found David and Ella holding their hands, their eyes wide open and their legs shaking.
Tom and Lois burst into uncontrollable laughter at the scene.
After a while, they stopped laughing and Lois wheeled herself to the bedroom. On the way, she turned and said to David and Ella,
"You two are such pussies."Tom, David and Ella stared at Lois dumbfounded at her language and watched her as she moved away.
Tom started laughing again and after a while, Ella and David also began laughing as if they had all been infused with laughing gas.
