April
"I can't believe I got into NYU!" I yell out in excitement at Lora, the girl I've been dating for two months. As a junior, college has been one of my main focuses at the moment.
She doesn't even spare me a glance when she says, "Yeah I know, me neither." Her voice is monotone and unenthusiastic. The bright green eyes I grew obsessed with are now obsessing over some text on her phone.
I let out a sigh and sit down next to her on the couch. "You never told me where you're going. Maybe if you got into somewhere in the same state we can still go out." Her bored eyes roll back and she looks up at me. She puts her phone down finally and I feel her warm hands grab mine and pull them into her lap.
"Jasper..." That can't be good.
"Yeah?" She looks down into her lap and back up to make eye contact with me. "You can tell me anything."
"Wanna know why I never told you where I'm going?" I nod. "Because I don't want you to you know."
"What do you mean?" I automatically say.
She sighs again and pats my lap like I'm a child. "We were just a high school fling, if you could even call it that. Our relationship isn't worth it to keep going and I really don't thing I want to anyway."
As if on instinct, I rip my hands out of her grasp and stand up angrily. My eyes trail to the tens of flowers on her bedroom shelf. The shit ton of money I spent on Lora seems worthless now, but I should've known. Everyone warned me that Lora would treat me like shit, but I never listened. I couldn't believe that a girl with such light eyes and a great smile that always seemed to be directed at me, could treat someone like this.
"How could you say that?" I yell. "You can't just act like all those things you said to me about "forever" meant nothing to you! Or is that all our relationship was? Nothing?!"
Lora doesn't even seem phased by my yelling. Her only reaction was to shrug and stand up next to me. Her eyes are blank walls that hold zero expression, basically proving my point. "If you're not going to realize that we're over, than please just get out. I need to start packing and you're getting to be too much." She crosses her arms and sinks into her left hip, giving attitude like I deserve it.
"What a fucking bitch," I seethe and walk out of her room. Before I reach the door, I make eye contact with Lora and shove the glass vases full of roses off her shelf. She looks at me with surprise and awe, her mouth open. "Serves you right," I mutter and continue on my way out.
