chapter 14 : remembering him...

Shizuka's pov
I feel terrible.......I know I shouldn't but I can't help it. Here I am, lying in my own bed after a long time.....I stare at the familiar ceiling of my room but somehow it doesn't really seem so familiar........
I miss Eisuke so much. And I know, that he doesn't care. As I lie down, I think upon all our times together.
Haah......I have to get over it. Somehow. I know!
I quickly grab my phone and dial the number of the first person that comes to my mind. Yes, the only one who would know what to do in such situations!
*riing riing*
Come on, pick up!
Hikori: Mmmm....hello?
Shizuka: Hikori!!! I need a girls night out! Tomorrow!
Hikori: Woah! Shizuka, its 1am. Whats gotten into you all of a sudden?
Shizuka: Just tell me. Can you meet up tomorrow?
Hikori: What? The Shizuka Misaki herself approached me for a girls night out. How could I miss this golden opportunity...
Shizuka: So you're in?
Hikori: Yup. Tommorow at 9. In our usual bar. What do you say?
Shizuka: Fine by me. Thanks.
Hikori: well yeah, now let me sleep....its literally in the middle of the night you know....
Shizuka: yeah bye. Goodnight.
Hikori: Hmmm. Zzzzzzz.
*beep*
Okay, now I will try to sleep myself.
Although I can't really sleep I atleast am not as depressed as I was when I came home last night.
The next day.
I go to the office and find dad there.
Shizuka: Oh Dad. You are here today. Something important?
Daishin: I have a few meetings today....and oh, here.
He hands me a file.
Shizuka: What is it?
Daishin: Its the file of your project with Ichinomiya of course. We will have to start working on it soon. So get in touch with him and in a few days we will continue the project.
Shizuka: Uhh....
All my 'new spirit' from earlier vanishes on hearing that name. Okay, deep breath. I can do this.
I open the file but...
Shizuka: What?! London?!
Daishin: My my Shizuka, that was quite a response. Of course you will have to go to london from time to time for this project. Is there a problem?
Shizuka: No.
Daishin: Good then. See you later.
With that he leaves.
So, I will have to go to London......with HIM!!
It will be so nostalgic and....awkward. Afterall that is where we first met each other. But coming to think of it, I might only be the one who will be nervous. He doesn't care one bit.
I feel a little sad again but at the perfect timing my phone rings.
Shizuka: Oh Hikori. Hi!
Hikori: You are coming tonight right?
Shizuka: Yeah!
Hikori: Wow, someone is excited. I thought I was dreaming yesterday when you called.
Shizuka: No, I am not joking.
Hikori: Ok. Looking forward to it.
Shizuka: Yeah.

I finish my work quickly and its some time before our girls night out. Hmm. What should I do? I just walk around shibuya. The bar is not far away. Its a five star bar where only VIPs usually go. I told my driver to go home again today, so I will probably go walking.

I suddenly receive a call. I look at the screen and freeze on the spot.
Shizuka: Hello....Frank?
Frank: Shizuka! I am so glad you picked up!
Shizuka: Y-yeah. So....why are you calling out of the blue like this?
Frank: Well you see, we haven't talked after that night at all. I know this will probably be hard for you but I want to see you again.
Shizuka: Ummm...actually...
Frank: Please don't say no. I am leaving for England again in a few days. Let me meet you for one last time.
(actually, I wasn't going to say no. I mean, Eisuke doesn't 'own' me anymore. So its my decision whether to meet Frank or not.)
Shizuka: Frank, don't worry. Its not a problem. We can meet.
Frank: Oh good then. I am looking forward to it.
Shizuka: Yeah me too.
Frank: Okay, see you later then.
Shizuka: Yeah, later.

Hmm....there should not be a problem. Oh, its almost time to meet up. I hurriedly go to the bar.
Hmmm..'The long island bar.'
We already had reserved a seat and so I am shown to the table immediately. Hikori is already waiting for me.
Hikori: Hey.
Shizuka: Hey, thanks for coming.
Hikori: No problem. Shall we order drinks?
Shizuka: Sure. A martini please.
Hikori: A manhattan please.
Bartender: Sure thing.
The bartender disappears behind the counter and thats when I hear a voice behind me.
Frank: Shizuka? Oh my, that must be fate.
Shizuka: Huh?! Frank?!
Hikori's eyes sparkle as she sees us.
Hikori: Oh my god Shizuka, who is this hottie? How do you know him?
Shizuka: Stop saying embarrassing things!
Frank: Haha. I am Frank Ackerson, pleased to make your acquaintance.
Hikori: Oh, I am Hikori Honekawa, I am friend of Shizuka's.
Frank: Any friend of Shizuka's is a friend of mine. Mind if I join you?
Hikori: Of course not! Please join us!!

There goes our night out down the drain.......
Now its me, Hikori and Frank.
Shizuka: So....how are you here?
Frank: I was just stopping by. What a great coincidence.
Shizuka: Yeah, looks like we got our reunion early.
Frank: I wanted to meet you as soon as possible.
Hikori: Ahem....I feel like I am the third wheel here.
Frank: Oh no. Please don't feel like that.
Hikori: Hehe, I was just kidding.
Shizuka: Hikori......
Hikori: Okay, sorry sorry.
Frank: Well....I am really surprised you agreed to meet. I thought Ichino-
Shizuka: Oh its a long story we will talk about that later!! Lets just enjoy ourselves now shall we?!

I quickly cut him off before he can say Ichinomiya. I can't let Hikori get a wind of it! It would be a huge problem to deal with her if she found out anything about Eisuke!
Hikori looks at me suspiciously. But then, her phone rings.
Hikori: Oh sorry, its work. I have to take this.
Frank: Sure. Go ahead.
(Hush....saved by the call.)
As soon as Hikori steps out, Frank turns towards me.
Frank: Does yoir friend not know about you and Ichinomiya?
Shizuka: Look. Let me get this straight. I am NOT dating Eisuke. Its a long story.
Frank: So....you are single then.
Shizuka: Umm...yeah. Thats another way to put it.
Frank's gaze suddenly changes.
What? He is holding my hand.
Shizuka: Frank?
Frank: I wanted to ask you this from a long time... Shizuka, will you date me?

That......was quite straightforward.

Shizuka: Don't you thing this is a bit sudden?!
Frank: I have waited for too long. Last time I couldn't ask you since Soryu interrupted but this time please tell me. I can wait if you want.
Shizuka: I-I......
Voice: Shizuka.

That voice! I can't believe it so I instantly turn around.
Shizuka: E- eisuke?
He is standing there looking or I should say glaring at us. He is with that woman again. He pulls her close again and then a waiter approaches them.
Waiter: Usual table sir?
Eisuke: yes.
He walks away into a private room with an arm around that woman's shoulders.
I feel like I am going to tear up.
Frank: Is this what it is? Its not the first time he has done that to you now, is it? Please, think about what I have said.
Shizuka: Frank, I need time. Please.
Frank: Sure.
Hikori: Sorry, I literally disappeared.
Shizuka: Its fine.

Then...the three of us enjoy a few drinks and then I return home.....still feeling down.
