chapter 11 : the deal

Eisuke's pov
Bucci is finally signing the deal today.  My plan totally worked. Carolina is attracted to Soryu now and I am getting this deal signed without any problem. This.....is all thanks to Shizuka. I know she helped me just because she had no other choice but still she pulled this off pretty good. Heh. Thats my girl, Shizuka. Always the best in whatever she does.
Shit, what am I even talking? My girl....huh. She isn't mine anymore. I forgot that. Eisuke Ichinomiya, what is happening to you?! Living with her all these days....it brings back memories. I used to think we would be together forever but it seems thats not the case. I teased her this morning and her genuine reactions were just so cute. I kissed her in the lobby in front of everyone to sort the situation but in the elevator....I didn't have to kiss her. But I still lost control. And when I felt her lips on mine, I couldn't stop. I know she will go her own way once we are done with this deal and my project with Misaki corporation but honestly....I can't help but feeling uneasy. Her being here with me has become so natural. Her coffee, our bantering, her looking in the mirror to check her dress.....I won't get to see it anymore. Am I falling for her....again? No. Not at all. Its over. A broken heart cannot be mended again. Its for the best if we part ways as soon as possible. Besides, I have to take care of Nikaido before that old pig can affect me or Shizuka. People like him go to any lengths to get what they want and Shizuka has already pissed him off. If he knows that Shizuka is associated with me more than just a project with her company, he will target her....and if something happens to her....I won't forgive myself. I have to distance myself from her soon. There is no other choice. Now I should focus on how I should take down Nikaido. I will talk to Baba about it.

Later that afternoon.
Bucci: I am looking forward to do buisness with you.
Eisuke: Same here.
Bucci: We really enjoyed our stay in your hotel and in Japan but now we should go back since the job is done.
Eisuke: Oh, thats a shame. I would have loved if you would have stayed a few more days.
Bucci: Me too. But I am a busy man just like you.
Eisuke: Thats right. Thankyou so much for signing this deal.
( I told Baba about Nikaido. I don't know how he did it so fast but he found out, but he said that Nikaido has been following us wherever we met. So basically he knows that I am signing this deal with bucci...and that also means he knows  about Shizuka...shit. I have to crush him before he takes any action. And it includes pushing Shizuka away.)
My heart is heavy but I have accepted this. We are not meant to be. We never were. Now I have to find a way to get her back to her normal life as if none of this happened. Bucci will leave soon...until then, I want to be with her. As much as possible. But no. I can't do that. I should go back to being cold with her....that will make her hate me...again.
I resolve that I will part ways with her soon. Its nearly evening. I step in the elevator and the door is about to get closed when someone comes rushing in. Its Shizuka.... She looks at me and smiles sweetly. That cheerful smile again. *sigh* why is this happening.

Shizuka's pov
I come back to the hotel from the office and see that the VIP elevator is about to close. I should hurry... I rush towards the door and make it just in time....good. I turn around only to find......Eisuke, alone with me in the elevator...just like that day. Great. Now I feel so awkward that I don't know what to say but I try to act natural. I smile at him brightly.
Shizuka: Hey. How did the meeting with Bucci go?
Eisuke's expression which I feel had softened a little bit goes stern again.
Hmm?
Eisuke: It went well. He signed the deal, just as we planned.
Shizuka: Great. So...he doesn't suspect anything..right?
Eisuke: No.
Shizuka: okay.
Well. This is awkward. He is just answering my questions and not even trying to start a conversation. I feel that the closeness I have been feeling around him since last few days is fading now. But coming to think of it, its for the best.
None of us say anything as we reach the penthouse. As soon as the elevator dings I get ready to get out but suddenly Eisuke takes my hand from behind. Surprised I turn around and see that Eisuke is looking at me with a stern look on his face.
Shizuka: Eisuke?
Eisuke: Stay alert...no matter what.
I find myself staring at those intoxicating eyes of his. His expression is grim, mixed with concern and confusion and it makes my heart skip a beat.

Thats all he says before releasing my hand and walks out of the elevator without turning back.
What's gotten into him?

The next day.... I wake up and go to the living room, expecting that Eisuke would be frowning for coffee but I find no one there.
Shizuka: huh? Did he already leave? That is awfully early....and he did not even ask for coffee.
Normally he is such a tyrant that he would wake me up and make me brew coffee for him but now....something feels really off. Anyway, why should I care? The more he gets away the better.
The rest of the day is quite uneventful.
Today in the office I heard that we will soon start having meetings with Eisuke regaurding the new project. All the female employees were so excited.
*sigh* and here I am. Waiting for it to be over as soon as possible.
I come back to the penthouse suit and still don't find Eisuke there.
I go to the penthouse lounge and find the usual gang there except Eisuke.
Shizuka: Hey guys, long time no see.
Ota: ooh look its Shizuka. We almost thought that you forgot about us.
Shizuka: Aww, did you miss me?
Baba: How could anyone not miss such a pretty lady?
Shizuka: You should really work on your lines Baba. Girls don't fall for this kind of stuff.
Mamoru: Hehe. You got told.
Baba: Ah come on, like you can flirt any better mamo!
Mamoru: I ain't interested in women.
Ota: Oh so you are interested in men then?
Ota smirks as he teases kishi.
Mamoru: shuddap kisaki. Go draw something!
Ota: There is no need to be so mean.
Ota pouts.
Soryu: *sigh* why am I even listening to this conversation?

This is refreshing. These guys always cheer me up. Eisuke might not say it out loud and neither will them but I know that they all have each others' backs.
Soryu: What are you smiling for?
Shizuka: Huh? Oh, no reason.
Soryu looks at me suspiciously.
Shizuka: Umm...anyway, have you guys seen Eisuke today?
Baba: No. Why?
Shizuka: I was just curious since he left very early today.
Ota: look Baba, Shizuka is worried for Eisuke.
Shizuka: What?! I was just asking! Why do you always take it the wrong way?!
Soryu: Calm down. They are just toying with you. And speaking of the devil.....
I follow soryu's gaze to see Eisuke walking in the room.
Eisuke: What is the commotion about?
Shizuka: Oh nothing...just general stuff..
Eisuke: Whatever. Tomorrow morning the Buccis are leaving, you are coming with me. Soryu, you too.
Soryu: Finally...that pig is going back.
Shizuka: Is it really necessary for me to come?
Eisuke: Do you want to screw up last moment?
Eisuke glares at me sharply. Why is he so mad?
Shizuka: No. *sigh* Fine, I will come.
Eisuke: You really don't have a choice in that matter.
Why does he have to be so cold?
He has become so cold for past few days. I thought our relationship was atleast improving a little. Not that I was expecting anything else but......it still feels so bad.
We go to bed without talking to each other once we go back to the suit.
