I held off as long as I could

Saying nothing

Thinking...nothing

Feeling...nothing

-but it's hard to do

When you live in the shadows of the matter

-when it's linked to your blood line

And lineage

-your very life

-when one falls, all fall

-so when you spin the cycle

Call it what it is

# black lives matter

Should have never been said

Since when is "life" synonymous with "black"

-since when do

-since when have

Black lives ever mattered

Do I really need to jog your memory

So that you can remember and recollect

The countless neutered black bodies hanging from a tree

Or the firehoses

-the dogs and their sicking

-the "For Colored" signs "Only"

And the constant screaming of "Nigger, Nigger"

When have we ever been human

-ever had life and the treatment of a human being

Truth is, they took the segregation signs down

And resurrected them with their discrimination and scrutiny

From housing to the workforce

Truth is

They don't lynch and neuter niggers

-no, not like they used to

-with a knife and from a tree

-it's with the jail house, prison, penitentiaries

That they lynch us now

And castrate us of all our dignity

-they don't even have to scream nigger

We refer to ourselves as such

In our everyday language and in our music

Hip-hop

It don't stop

Which brings me to my next point

And the biggest matter of all

-you don't ever name a movement

"black lives matter"

When black lives don't matter to the ones

Who it should matter to most of all

#us

-if our lives truly mattered to us

Why carry on the genocide of our own people

With these gang wars

-the world's keeping score

Statistically more dead in Chicago, Illinois

That the entirety of the war

Statistically we're diminishing our numbers

better than the KKK and the pigs did before

and all the world can say for this poor and lacking

expression is that "black lives matter"

is exclusionary, un-American,

that all lives matter

-because they don't want to admit that they could never sit

-better yet, even walk, -alone, in Trayvon Martin's shoes

They will never look at the heart of the matter

No, they will never look at you

Because you are less than human

Though you have the most hue

To take any ownership in our circumstance

Would subtlety subdue

The very notion

Of whose lives really matter (who runs this society)

Of who are less than human (having no E.I. or empathetic values)

-call it what it is

#The Civil Rights Movement Part 2

Because we all know

This battle

Is never-ending

And will always continue!
