*A/N*

Hey, guys! Are you ready for a special chapter? In the last chapter, I referenced to a trip Kei and Mori had taken together to Karuizawa before the one they had embarked on with the hosts. This will be a story of the past, a lot like the Prologue chapter. This will be a shorter chapter than usual, but I hope you all still enjoy~

Three Years Ago.......

"Ah, Karuizawa is so beautiful this time of year!" Hani cheered as the three friends exited the car. Indeed, Karuizawa was perfect. The weather was warm and inviting. Birds sung all day long, never tiring of their melodies. The gentle breezing caressing ones skin in a warm embrace. But despite this, Kei couldn't help but sulk.

Yes, it was perfect. It only added insult to injury.

The two cousins noticed their friends sullen mood.

"I'm sorry your father couldn't make it, Kei."

Kei shrugged. It shouldn't bother him. His father had meant to spend the summer with Kei and their family friends, but unfortunately a work matter had called him back a day before they left. It was to be expected when Kei's father held such a high position in government. Now it was only Kei who left with the Haninozuka's and Morinozuka's, and although he was a time honored guest, it was lonely. At times like these Kei missed his older brother more.

"It's fine."

Mori patted the boy on the back, giving him a meaningful smile that only he could. Mori was Kei's best friend. Kei cherished both of his friends equally, but since the boys could walk and talk they had been inseparable. They held similar interest. He was Kei's favorite sparring partner, besides his father.

Shaking the other boy off, Kei made his way towards the cabin with haste. He tried to make his tone as convincible as possible. "Come on! No more moping around, let's get going!"

Kei hoped Mori hadn't seen the red in his cheeks.

The Haninozuka's, Morinozuka's and Tokugawa's vacationed together often. Mori and Hani's younger brothers got along so well, and the trio Kei, Mori, and Hani were inseparable. Kei couldn't remember a vacation where the three families weren't together, even if it was usually just Kei as the only attending member of his family.

He hoped the distance would have been a distraction. He needed something to keep his thoughts from wandering, but it seemed he was to be cursed with a nomadic mind.
