Dream Arc - Chapter Four
The Lovers

Mizushina Yume
If I have to describe Sasaki Tsukasa, I'd say he's trying a bit too hard.
Just like the main character on the book I'm reading, Stay Alive written by a foreign author, Sarah C. Blacks.
In the book, a certain girl lost the reputation she once loved and had, and now she's ignored by everyone in school.
But when a certain boy came to her life, she saw his struggles and realized that the boy has far more struggles than her. She hoped to save his life, to bring colors to his life, to tell him that the world isn't as bad he thought it was.
Of course, they did got married in the future, until death did them apart.
Well, that's the summary. But I did just gave a spoiler at the end. This was one of the author's first works but sadly the author is dead, she committed suicide.
A depressing yet good story, I must say. It's similar to Romeo and Juliet, but Stay Alive focuses more to the modern era and what can wars do. It's one of my favorites that it urged me to read her other works.
I sound like I'm making a book review, haha.
The day ended with the sun being in the center of orange and yellow. I just came out of the book store, after getting my favorite author's second book, titled Yume.
Honestly speaking, it's not her second book, but it's the second book I got from the same author.
As I walked out, I smelled the scent of red beans and dorayaki from about a mile away and I noticed that there was a bakery running in the corner of my eye.
Wouldn't hurt to get some dorayaki 'cause I'm really hungry.
I decided to visit that bakery, since I haven't been shopping for food lately. Might as well buy bread for tomorrow's breakfast and snack, anyways.
Continuing, I bought a book entitled Yume. Strangely enough, the story is about a girl named Yume, whose dreams always come true, just like me. Even the first chapter is about her life being scary than boring.
What if that book is narrating my life? How it started and how it ended?
Will I be able to see the end of my life?
I brushed off the thought. Really, it's just a coincidence. But Izanami would definitely say the opposite. But what is there to explain? There's no way Sarah knew me, right?
Before I realized, I was already in front of the bakery and it was packed with people looking around for a good bread to buy.
The store's name is Kyouka-chan.
Huh, an odd name.
As I looked around, I felt a hand on my shoulder. I froze for a moment before I turned around with cold sweat.
A young man with green coat, fur-rimmed hood, a black shirt and jeans. Blue sport shoes and a plastic bag, in which I could smell something coming from it.
His skin was pale, his hair and eyes were black and he had glasses.
Wait, glasses?!
"Tokuro?!" I yelled, half of the crowd turned to me, the source of the sound they heard. I blushed and looked down and he laughed at me.
"Damn you, Tokuro," I whispered to him.
"Hey, it's your fault for shouting."
Let me make a short introduction, this man is Inuzuka Tokuro, one of Izanami's client. He's 25, quite an old age for me to be friends with. And someone too old for me to be familiar with.
(Apart from Izanami and since I don't use any honorific to call him. In all honesty, I don't know her real age lol)
I gazed down at his hand. I smelled the scent of dorayaki and other snacks coming from it.
"Visiting Yukina-san, huh?" I asked, putting on a pitiful and sad tone. He nodded and raised his brows, followed by a shrug.
"Her condition's gotten worse," he said, not even glancing at me. "So I'm staying over."
I frowned. He must've been in a hard time.
Hanayama Yukina is Tokuro's girlfriend. They've been together ever since Tokuro graduated from high school. Though ironically, they didn't meet in high school. How they met, I'll get to that in a bit.
Tokuro...from what I heard from Izanami, has been getting involved with terrible people ever since high school. I heard he was a delinquent back then.
Tokuro has always been getting involved with loan sharks and drug dealers and such, though he only did that for money since he was poor. He had no one in his family to support him and who knows where his parents are.
Though Yukina-san was kind enough to help him with his financial problems, he was still getting involved with those people behind her back.
But it all became his biggest regret.
Yukina-san was chasing after him in the street, after seeing him handing over an envelope to a shady-looking man. She rushed over to him, but got hit by a car in the process.
Yukina-san was then hospitalized. Though they were able to heal her wounds, Yukina-san turned blind. She could no longer see anything. She could no longer see the world like she used to.
Regretting everything he's done, Tokuro visited Izanami on a certain day and I'm sure you know the rest of the story...I guess?
I decided to join Tokuro on visiting Yukina-san. It's been about four months ever since she's been hospitalized. I never been hospitalized and I don't want to.
I'm glad I have Izanami take care of me while I'm sick. Back when I was a kid, Izanami would stay by side for days, even sleep with me. I wonder if she'll ever get infected by my illness, but I guess not since she's a witch.
She easily makes medicine with herbs and other plants with a pinch of magic, that's what she liked to say back then. And even though her medicines and remedies were always bitter and salty sometimes, I always get better in less than a day.
Izanami is such a great mom.
We arrived at the hospital, Fujimaru Hospital which was in East of Asakusa. Yukina-san's room is on the sixth floor, the tenth room on the left side.
The nurses noticed us walking to her room and bowed their heads with a smile. We did the same, as to show respect and greeting to these kind nurses.
We arrived in her room. Well, the door that is. I noticed that Tokuro is shaking. His hands are trembling. He stared blankly at the door, as if waiting for Yukina-san to open the door.
In which she won't.
So I decided to open the door. The smell of lilies filled up the room as we both entered. Tokuro behind me, nervous and afraid.
The curtains leading to the bed were blown by the soft wind. I pushed it aside and revealed the poor blind Yukina-san.
