I scurried down the hallway of the school, pushing pass everybody in the way. Tip-toeing, I tried spotting the orange-haired boy. It was easy, considering his hair is as bright, or brighter, than the sun.

"Hey Kai."

He looked up from his phone and smiled gleefully at me.

"Aphmau, right? Mr Lycan's secret girlfriend!"

I took a deep breath and tried to control my temper. When I opened my eyes, there was a smirk on his face.

Not gonna lie, he's pretty cute. I understand how Katelyn fell for him. But looks deceive. And you shouldn't judge a book by it's cover either.

His smirk, no matter how cute, will still infuriate me anyway.

"About that. I came to tell you that I'll help you get Katelyn."

I smiled when I saw Kai's face contort into confusion.

"You can't be serious."

"Where did that badass attitude go?"

He shook his head and looked at me with this slightly angry look on his face. He looked like a parent who is disappointed at his child. And I'm the fucking child. It was my turn to be confused.

"You're such a bad friend. Katelyn doesn't deserve such a person like you."

All I did was scoff.

"Oh. So you raping her isn't bad? What I'm doing is not even half as bad as what you did to her! You mentally scarred her for life! You don't deserve Katelyn."

Kai sighed and ran his fingers through his hair.

"Yes, I know. What I did was wrong. And I'm a psychotic asshole. But I already know it's wrong. I'm no longer that selfish prick I was a month ago."

I was genuinely taken aback. I had to look him up and down to even see if he was Kai.

"You're fucking lying! I can see through it all, Kai."

"Aph. Stop."

Katelyn stepped out of the janitor's closet right behind Kai and linked her arms with his. She pecked him on the cheek then turned to me, scowling.

"I know all of it."

"Katelyn, what the fuck? How can you trust Kai?"

"I've heard it, Aphmau. You wanted to hand me over to him and ruin our friendship. Luckily, he changed. He's a better person now. He promised to be good and faithful to me. I can't believe you. I'm disappointed in you, Aph."

I was about to protest but she simply gave me a sad smile and walked away with Kai.

I stomped my foot on the floor angrily and let out a low growl. When I looked at them walking off, Kai turned around and his lips curled into that smirk again. As if that wasn't enough, he stuck an 'L' at me before turning back around.

What. The. Actual. Fuck.

I decided to skip next class and go to the playground again to cool down.

I climbed up the tiny ladder with two steps and onto the top of the plastic fence, holding onto the fake castle turret for support. I lifted up my leg and climbed onto the roof, leaning my back on the turret.

I loved sitting on top of the playground, just relaxing. The atmosphere here is calm and peaceful, especially at this time of the day. Where there are no rowdy kids sliding down slides or no gangster teens sitting on benches smoking. Just me, myself and I. Just staring at the greenery and the rows of houses is good enough for me.

I took out my key and carved a sad face into the roof. Vandalising, I know. But that was the least of my worries now.

"Why aren't you in class?"

Shit. I forgot it was Science class.

"Taking a breather."

"Why?"

I don't know why but tears dripped down onto my phone, blocking my screen and making my phone go mad. I wiped it with my shirt before typing again.

"I'll tell you when I'm back in school."

I clicked off my phone.

I lost Katelyn, my best friend since 2nd grade. And I lost her because my plan foiled. I knew I should've listened to Aaron when he told me to not make a move. But me being me, I just had to be some sort of huge hero.

While I was lost in my thoughts, my phone vibrated.

"I'm smarter than you think I am, girl. You're not fooling me with your plan.

-Kai"

Right now, I wish I had a bed to smash my phone into. But I had to control my temper to not throw my phone onto the ground.

I can't believe how cunning Kai is. He knew about my plan all along and he foiled it, knowing Katelyn would go back to his side and I will be off his hook. He manipulated Katelyn into thinking he changed for the better. I should've been more careful and I hate myself so much right now.

Sighing, I wiped away the remaining tears left on my cheek with my sleeve and jumped off the roof. I landed on the grass with a thud and rolled, just like people who parkour and stood up to brush my clothes off.

Then I headed back to school with a tear-strickened face.
