I stood beside the podium, throwing hydrangea petals all over the long red carpet. Wedding bells chimed loudly overhead as everybody diverted their attention to the oncoming bride-to-be.
I grinned like a proud mom as I watched Katelyn walked down the aisle in her beautiful white wedding gown, her hair tied into a braid bun and in her hands, a boquet of white-coloured roses. Her right arm was linked with non other than her father, Eric who also had the same grin that I had on his face.
I turned my head to the podium, where Travis stood handsomely in his fancy black tuxedo, a white rose pinned onto the right side of his chest. Tears glistened in his eyes as he stared at Katelyn with this lovey-dovey smile, which I found adorably cute.
They said their vows and when the priest said 'You may kiss the bride', I swear I could tumble over in joy.
I watched as Travis lifted the veil over Katelyn's head, looking at Katelyn admiringly. I can feel their love from over here.
Then he leans in and their lips touched. A wild cheer from the crowd shortly followed as they pulled away, still having that same look in their eyes. I squealed excitedly, clasping my hands together.
Soon after, everyone took turns in congratulating Katelyn and Travis on their marriage before heading back to their seats to chatter or eat. I turned to my side and had a lovely conversation with the other bridesmaids ; Lucinda, Nana and Teony. The groomsmen ; Aaron, Laurance, Dante and Garroth, were also doing the same.
It was such a joyous occasion. Everybody was having fun, smiling from ear to ear. I looked over at the newly-wed couple, holding hands lovingly. Sigh. After all that problem with Kai, they deserved to be happy forever.
I decided to go outside for some fresh air, to get away from the crowd for a while. So, I walked out the church through the back doors, walked down a familiar street and into the park where my history with Aaron started.
Everything was peaceful here. The only sounds were the splashing of the water fountain, the rustling of leaves and the rocks crunching under my feet. This is why I loved the park.
I stood by the water fountain and stared at the sun setting in the distance. It washed the sky in a beautiful mix of colours; pink, purple and orange. The wind blew against my face, the smell of nature warming me up. I could almost sleep here.
Until I felt strong muscular arms snaked around my waist. I already knew who it was so I wasn't too worried.
Aaron rested his chin on my head and we both stared at the sunset in silence for a few seconds before he broke it.
"Hey Aph?" He whispered, as if to not disturb the sounds of nature.
"Yea?"
"Do you remember this spot?"
Yeah, I do. This was the first time I accidentally bumped into Aaron and also the time when he asked me to be his girlfriend. This spot, right beside the fountain, held a lot of happy and cherished memories. How could I forget?
I nodded.
"You know how you caught the bouquet just know?"
Yeah, I did. I caught it also on accident. I was casually munching on some eclaires when the white roses landed on my lap.
"You know what that means, right?"
A sudden realisation dawned on me.
The one who catches the bouquet is the next to get married.
I wanted to turn to look at Aaron but he was already on the floor on one knee with a red box open in his hand. Inside it, held a beautiful silver ring, with a casablanca in the middle instead of a diamond. The casablanca is what Aaron gave to me on the day he asked me to be his girlfriend. Tears welled in my eyes involuntarily. I could also see tears swimming in Aaron's beautiful black eyes too.
"Aph, will you marry me?"
So, with the sunset in the background of the most memorable place ever, I got engaged to Aaron Lycan, the love of my life and my one and only.
The End
