It was pure chaos. There were screams, yells, blood, limps and bodies dropping everywhere. There were clangs of swords as they connected and the whoosh of arrows as they soared through the air, some connecting with their targets and others missing. There were spurts of blood that soared through the air, landing on other people and seeping into the ground as the fighters dropped dead.
From what I could make out in all that chaos was that my side was winning and it did really help that we had the vampires on our side. Some of the assassins my mother had paid realised that they had no chance of surviving this and so they ran for it; some of them even made it, but most didn't make it because the vampires got them.
I looked towards Alexander and we both slid off our horses, pulled out our swords and charged. I swung my sword and decapitated the nearest assassin, his blood spurted all over my shirt and his head flew in an arch before landing some 10 feet away. I clashed with another assassin, our swords clanging and the sound reverberated everywhere. I elbowed him in the face and broke his nose, which made him drop his sword to howl in pain as blood flowed down his face and into his mouth. I ran him through with my sword and once my sword was pulled from him, he fell to the ground, dead.
I made my way through the assassins that came racing towards me and some of them had gotten in some good swipes, I had a few cuts and I was covered in dirt, blood and sweat. I heard the swoosh of a dagger or arrow as it soared through the air, but before I could get out of the way, the dagger landed in my left arm and I screamed out. My mother had thrown it and she grinned in triumph at me. I pulled out the dagger and it was covered in my blood. The blood trickled down my arm and it was warm.
I threw the dagger at the closest assassin and it landed in her neck, cutting her artery and she spurted blood as she crumpled to the ground in a bloody mass. Alexander was just past her dead body and was fighting a couple of assassins at the same time. His mother was a few people in front of me using daggers to fight a few assassins at the same time, slitting their throats and just beside her was her husband, Erik, who had shifted in to his wolf and was snarling and tearing at anyone he could get to.
Christina and her boyfriend were fighting side by side, protecting each other and killing those that they could. We had left Dixon at Swan Castle because he is too young and I'm glad we did leave him, this place was pure bloodshed and we were lucky if we could take two steps without walking in blood.
While Alexander was dealing with many assassins at the same time, I rushed towards my mother as I knew that the only way to deal with this and end it all was to stop her. As much as I wanted to forgive her, even spare her, she had caused far too much carnage and blood shed. She had tried to destabilise the Kingdom and ruin everything.
I understand she was angry and I understand my father had hurt her, but she should have dealt with it with him, talked to him and tried to work it out, but instead she just tried to kill me and ruin everything. She wanted pure power and she wanted to ruin everything. She should have taken her anger out on my father and not me. She should not have tried to destroy my Kingdom.
"Mother, stop this! You've ruined enough lives."
"I haven't ruined anything! This is yours and your father's fault!"
"How is this my fault? I get it, dad was an obsessed jerk and horrid to you, but why take it out on me? I'm your daughter."
"You ruined everything! Once I had you and you turned out the way you are, your father focused more on you than me and I was practically banished to that castle. Do you have any idea how much pain I felt every time he was with another woman? And you facilitated that! You gave him the money to do it!" I could see the hurt and the pain in her eyes.
