"NO! Alex, please don't!" I screamed as I ran toward them and they both raised their swords at the same time to come crashing down...on me...

Desiree:

It was swift and it was instantaneous. Their blades both sunk into my shoulders, Alex's coming out quicker, but my father's, well I thought he was actually trying to kill me. Pain...pain past anything you have ever imagined hit me like a ton of bricks and I guess what they say is right, the body can only take so much pain before you feel too much and it all stops. It had overloaded my body, shot my nerves and senses. Everything went black, I felt nothing and there was nothing.

The blackness was suffocating and it was everywhere like a current of water, dragging you down and keeping you there. I didn't know where I was, what I was feeling or what had happened. I kept trying to move, to feel, to do anything, but it was like I wasn't there and had no control over anything. Where the hell was I? What had happened? Have I died?

I felt my heart beating fast and I felt wetness, but I couldn't see where it was coming from and I felt like my heart was trying to burst out of my chest and ears. I hear words coming from somewhere, but it was drowned out by the slowing down of my heart as it went ba dump...ba dump...ba dump... I tried to move, but the only thing I could feel was my heart and that's because I could swear it was in my head.

"He-Hello?" I called, hoping someone was out there and that someone could help me.

Then like someone had woken up the sun right in front of me, a bright bursting light shot in front of me and came towards me. It came at me and washed over me, chasing away the darkness that had surrounded me and pushing away the wetness and my slowly beating heart. I could see again and I could see me, I was in the same dress I was in at the castle, but I definitely wasn't in the same room as before. I turned and looked around, it was just a white room and when I turned again, I saw a young woman, I'd say she was about my age and she had long black hair. Her eyes were a bright, sparkling blue and she was in a long white Victorian style nightie. She looked surprised to be here too and then looked at me and smiled.

"I know who you are; you're my brother's mate." She spoke in a soft voice. Her brother? Alexander's sister?

"Who are you?" I asked, my voice sounded a bit croaky.

"I am Christina Robertson, middle child of Queen Zofia and King Erik Robertson. My Eldest brother is Alexander Robertson." She explained.

"Are you dead too?"

"No, I am a spirit walker. It's one of my gifts. Your spirit called me here."

"Why?"

"I'm not sure, but I'm guessing you have a choice." She said as she turned and pointed to two doors. Both were black, but one said fight and the other said flight.

"A choice about what?" I asked when I looked at the doors and my eyes kept flickering to both. What choice did I have to make? Wasn't I already dead? Wasn't I just meant to go on to the afterlife? Why was I being asked to choose?

"Life or death I'm guessing. I've never had to do this before."

"That's not very comforting." I chuckled dryly at her.

"Well sorry, but my gift for spirit walking is to help tether my family to this life, if they want to, I help give them a choice and since my brother has obviously mated with you, you are now considered a part of this family it seems. I am what is keeping your soul tethered to this earth and to your body." She explained to me with a slight grumble to her voice. "All my family, apart from my baby brother, have vampire blood and are hard to kill. I've never had to use this power before."
