Desiree's POV:
Now that everyone was here and Alexander and I had become King and Queen of both Species, I felt like we were ready to take on my mother, the usurper of my birth right. I did feel that everything had happened all quite fast and that was why I was now sat in the bedroom, where Alex and I had slept last night, for a bit of quiet reflection.
I still couldn't believe that my mother had been the one behind the assassins; that she had been the one who had tried to kill me time and time again. I shook my head at the memory of her rant about why she was doing this and it hurt. The pain was worse then when I almost died. I kept wanting to cry, then scream, then break something and then just slump. I didn't know how to feel or what to do or say. My mother had been trying to kill me. I could feel tears in my eyes again and I furiously wiped them away; I would not cry because of that woman. She was no longer my mother.
Alex found me in this room and he came over to sit next to me on the bed. It dipped a little beside me, accommodating his weight and he wrapped an arm around my shoulder, pulling me towards him and I lay my head on his chest. He stroked my arm up and down, soothing me with just his touch and I felt calmer, more reassured that we could deal with this problem.
"Are you sure you can deal with this?" Alex finally whispered to me. "I know she's your mother and it hurts what she has done to you, but if you can't deal...well...I can do it for you."
"No, no...we need to do it together. To show a united front, we are the rightful rulers of both Kingdoms and people need to see that we can unite them." I said with determination in my voice and sat up right, staring Alexander straight in the eye.
"As long as you are sure." Alexander said to me, concern in his voice and eyes. He gave me a warm, loving smile and it made my heart leap that he could love me even with all this craziness. "Everyone is ready and waiting for us. We have an army of just over 40,000. We need to give a speech and then we can head off."
"Okay," I whispered softly, nodding my head as I said it. I stood up, letting Alexander's hand drop from my shoulder and walked over to the wardrobe where my uniform/armour was hung up. I had metal arm bracelets, a long sleeved black top and woven into the top was a sort of kevlar vest, but it wasn't heavy or bulky like a normal one. I had sturdy trousers with the same kevlar material and hiking type boots with a steel top cap. I had a pair of skin tight gloves and a belt that had a sword sheath attached to it. I got changed quickly and put my hair into a french plait. I turned around and noticed that Alex had changed too. He was wearing exactly the same as me. He handed me my sword, which was about 3-4 feet long with a broad hilt and handle. It was pure silver and had a bit of wolfsbane mixed into the silver.
Alex's sword was about 4 - 5 feet long and was a bit wider than mine. It had an intricate design on the sword part and the handle too. He also placed daggers in a holder around his leg and gave me one too. Alex then kissed the top of my head and took my hand, leading me out of the bedroom and towards our army.

Once I was atop my palomino horse, I turned to the mixed army and could see that instead of being apart and separated, the armies had moulded together and vampire was stood next to werewolf. They could sense the shift and see the new way that we were moving forward with the Kingdoms, moulding them into one.
I looked to my right and saw my mate, my confidant and smiled. He was atop a black horse and looked determined, set jawed and ready for a fight. I looked to my left and saw my father atop a grey horse. He looked forlawn and sad, but determined as well. Just in front of the army, on their own horses, were my in laws and my siblings. The army, which was on foot, was just behind them and horses pulling wagons of supplies were dusted in between areas of them.
"Today we fight, but we do not fight another Kingdom or species or even those you now stand shoulder to shoulder with. We fight a usurper from within the Royal Family itself. We fight to continue our laws, traditions and liberties and we fight for continuation, for prosperity and love. We go into this fight, standing with those who were once our enemies and we show both Kingdoms that old prejudices, old hates and old wounds end here with your first steps into battle. My mate and I, your King, maybe young in years, but wise in mind and we will lead you to victory because we believe in you, do you believe in us?" I yelled throughout the courtyard where we stood. The men and women yelled back 'Aye!' and I smiled at them all before smiling at my mate.
"Let's do this!" Alex screamed as he punched his fist into the air, turned his horse and started walking away. I followed him and our joint family followed after us with the army walking behind them.

It took a good few hours of us to get to the edge of the main Kingdom, which just as I knew, was tighter than a dragon guarded vault and just as hard to get into. I could see a big collection of people, although no where near what we had brought and her mother, on a large black horse was screaming at the gatehouse to let her in, saying that she was the Queen and had a right to enter her Kingdom.
"You are not the Queen!" I yelled across the clearing as the army straightened out behind me. "I am!"
My mother turned to me, her eyes blazing with anger and when she saw me, she let out a scream of frustration. She turned her horse around and rode to the other side of her army, which had all started to turn around. They weren't as well sorted as mine were, or as well trained or had as good a uniform. I could see that their eyes had started roaming, as if counting the amount of people they had to fight against and I could see a few of them starting to shift uncomfortably. I could tell that no matter what monetary value or stake they had in this fight, they knew that they were outnumbered and they didn't want to die.
"You just won't die, will you?" She spat out at me, anger blazing in her eyes.
"Not without a good fight and I have a lot of people to bring me back." I said and my head nodded towards the vampire in-laws. My mother blanched a little and I could see the wolf in her starting to edge towards the surface. "Just give up mother, I'll lock you up in a reasonably comfortable cell where you can live out the rest of your days."
"Reasonably comfortable? I deserve to be Queen and rule alone! My men will fight to the death for me and I will get what I want." My mother spat at me and I couldn't help, but slightly start to see her as a raging teenager having a tantrum.
"No you don't and after all you have done I'm well within my rights to have your head, but I wanted to give you the chance to come quietly."
"Come quietly? You must be joking! You'll have to kill me first."
"Have it your way then!" I looked to her army, many of whom started to look more and more uncomfortable. "You have a choice, leave and be banished from any pack or city and live in the forests, never to step foot in any town, but be alive or die on this battlefield and buried in a mass grave!" I yelled to her army and I could see many of them really consider this option. About 2 - 3,000 actually took my offer and ran for it. My mother screamed at them to come back and called them many names, but they kept running and soon, they were out of sight. "You still want to do this?" I asked, giving her one more chance.
"Charge!" My mother screaming, pointing at me and those that had remained behind, about 6,000 had started charging towards us.
"For the King and Queen!" My father yelled and my army charged too. This fight was going to be bloody and many were not going to survive.
