Spending time with wonwoo made it pass so quickly.
Mingyu was just sitting beside the other boy by the shelves, watching him read the book in his lap. He wasn't interested in the book, though.
Mingyu just wanted to be with wonwoo, to watch him as his slender fingers turn the pages, and how his eyelashes fluttered against his sharp cheekbones as he blinked.
Mingyu liked it. He liked how quiet it was. Not awkward quiet. Not scary quiet either. Just peaceful and contented quiet, interrupted by soft crinkling of the book's paper as wonwoo flipped them.
Mingyu had always known he loved wonwoo. He just wasn't sure of it in the past. He thought maybe it was just friendship, or a brotherly sort of love.
He's sure now that it wasn't. It never was. He was just lying to himself all this time, so he wouldn't get hurt. He was convinced that wonwoo didn't feel the same way. Wonwoo probably only thinks of him as a friend, a brother. But never as a lover.
He knew he'd get hurt.
It'll hurt when wonwoo finds out.
It hurts when wonwoo doesn't know.
It hurt when wonwoo avoided him.
Everyday, he was hurting.
So what was he even holding on to ? Why didn't he just let go ?
A glance. A smile. A laugh. A simple conversation. A meal together. A hug.
They light up that spark within him. A spark he tried to smother out. A spark fighting to burst into flame.
He couldn't.
He couldn't stop it. He couldn't stop himself from wanting more. Wonwoo was gasoline, that fed that spark inside him.
He was hurt, but it was less painful to know that he was the reason why wonwoo was smiling. And it was all that mattered.
Wonwoo felt something move in his hair.
Without looking away from the paragraph he was reading, he slapped it, thinking it was a fly.
There was an astonished yelp.
Mingyu was rubbing his hand, with a annoyed expression on his face.
"Oh its you," wonwoo blurted out.
Mingyu looked away.
"Sorry, thought it was a fly," wonwoo muttered. "Does it hurt ?"
Mingyu was surprised. Wonwoo had never shown such concern for him before, and it created a warm fuzzy feeling in him.
"Its okay," he replied, and couldn't help smiling a little at the thought.
"But what was that ?" wonwoo asked.
"Affection," mingyu replied grinning.
"D-do it again."
"What ?"
"Do it again. I didn't see it properly."
Mingyu laughed and hugged wonwoo, "You're adorable."
"Am i ?"
Mingyu started playing with wonwoo's hair again.
"Yes, and i don't think you can see what 'affection' is."
"Then ?"
"You feel it," mingyu said, and planted a peck on wonwoo's cheek, "like this."
Wonwoo flushed scarlet.
"I- uh, think i should g-get going its... almost 6. I have- uhm, a mission at 6:30," wonwoo mumbled almost inaudibly. He got up quickly and stumbled off, the book in his lap falling to the floor.
Mingyu wanted to kick himself. He shouldn't have done that. He knew wonwoo would freak the hell out. And yet.
Mingyu sighed and slumped against the shelf behind him.
His eyes travelled to the book that wonwoo abandoned on the floor.
He picked it up, and realised it wasn't a library book. It was wonwoo's own book.
Mingyu read the title, and flipped the pages. It seemed to be an ordinary fiction romance book featuring a boy and a girl.
Mingyu wasn't surprised. Wonwoo was probably straight, anyway. That's why he ran away. He must've hated mingyu so much for doing that.
Mingyu made a mental note to not bother wonwoo for the next one week until things have calmed down. Besides, wonwoo probably doesn't want to see him at the moment.
Mingyu felt a stab of regret. He had just gotten closer to the other boy and gained more of his trust, but it seems that he had broken it in a matter of minutes.
Looking at the book in his hand, he realised he had to return the book back to wonwoo somehow.
He thought of someone who could help him pass the book back.
Someone close enough to wonwoo.
He went through the list of contacts in his phone and called a number.
"Seokmin ? Can we meet during dinner ?"
