This is a very long one, but it answers many questions to our hero's past. So enjoy!
The backyard was quiet but the five ninja were present and lurking towards Trish. She could tell. They smoothly circled around her deciding where to attack. The blindfold around her eyes made her completely relied on her other senses: sound, smell, touch, and (if absolutely necessary) taste. From the right she heard the footsteps of Jay and ducked down low to dodge the strike of lightning that he sent her way. The hair on her neck stood straight up as the sting of electricity grazed her back-side. Still on the ground she tripped him with one quick leg movement and grabbed his sword, attached it to her belt, then waited for the other ninja. The training session was to enable Trish to fight in the dark. It was to prepare her for the dark places of the Doom Dimension. Her mission was to disarm all five ninja.
“Agility and deciphering where your opponent is going to strike is what makes your enemy confused.” Sensei Wu’s words of approval spoke from the patio of the yard as he supervised the test.
From the left, Trish heard the steady breathing of Zane as he approached. He climbed one of the trees, hoping to surprise Trish from above, but Trish was already ahead of him. She reached for Jay’s sword and struck the tree which collapsed with Zane. Trish jumped over the fallen trunk and snatched Zane’s sword. That was two. Zane walked over to where Jay sat beside Sensei Wu after lifting the tree off him.
“Resourceful, use your surroundings to your own advantage.”
The heavy footsteps of Cole ran speedily up to Trish with force. He flung his sword towards her like a spear. She took her own and blocked it also sending a gust of air at Cole that sent him stuttering backwards; he sent a small quake her way after retrieving his sword. Leaping in the air, Trish avoided the shaking movement and sent a slice of wind down at Cole which sent him on his back. She now obtained three swords.
“Over confidence, a great downfall this can be. Do not give in to it.”
Kai stealthy crept up to her and created a barrier of fire surrounding a small area of the yard. The heat of the fire dampened the cloth on Trish’s eyes. Trish knew that Kai relied on his attacks to win the battle and did not rely too much on his defenses, so Trish decided to change things. She attacked fiercely which surprised Kai for that was usually his style. Trish knew that Kai would be uncomfortable with his defense, so she kept it up until she felt his misstep and pushed his sword from his hands into her own.
“Watch and wait for your enemy’s weaknesses. Save the best for last, the enemy does. Prepared, you must be.”
Trish had expected that Lloyd would be last and was prepared to fight endlessly—until Sensei changed the rules, “To finish the course you must make your opponent fall, but fall you must not let your enemy to you do.”
The challenge was rough as swords clashed against swords in the tiring battle. The steady fight was like a dance, keeping the time as they quickly went from a defensive stance to an attack position and back to a defensive stance etc. Their feet moved with speed and their minds rumbled with determination. Sweat trickled down their faces and down their hands. Their hair, by now, was soaked and it took all their concentration to keep a good grip on their swords.
The fight would have lasted forever except the little detail that they all forgot. Because of all the sweat that ran down them, it had formed puddles on the ground. The two clashed swords together and the impact pushed the two back and they slipped and both fell.
