The Dream

  I close my eyes.
You're hugging me,
We're happy.
Like always.
Then the image shifts.
You are saying sorry,
I'm in tears.
You get up,
You leave,
I crumble.
I'm in a hole
And in a whole lot of depression.
Then she comes back.
Shift again.
She is beating me.
Punch after punch,
Hitting me in the face
And her words punching my gut,
Shutting me down.
She leaves me,
Bloodied and beaten.
You come back,
Only to laugh at my pain.
My eyes open.
It was just a dream,
My worst nightmare.
You're only a text message away,
But I decide to cry alone.
It was just a dream, anyway.
