Trigger Warning: Homophobic slurs

Finn's POV

11:50 AM

"Bye Josh! See you in January!" I was gathering my belongings and getting ready (reddie?) to head to the airport since it was finally winter vacation which meant that I could spend the next month with my Jackie!

"Bye Finnlard!"

As soon as I walked outside, I started walking toward my Uber that was waiting for me. That is, until my phone started to ring.

Ring!! Ring!! Ring!!

After the third ring, I picked up without even looking at who the caller was.

"Hello?"

"Turn around." It was Jack, my baby boy. I instantly turned around and saw the most beautiful boy standing ten feet behind me, holding all of his bags. Without a second thought, I dropped all my stuff and ran over to him, engulfing him in the biggest hug.

"Oh my god, Jack! What are you doing here?" I asked jumping up and down with excitement.

"Oh, just thought that I would surprise you, and we could fly back together." I hugged him even tighter and whispered in his ear before pulling away and connecting our lips together. I smiled into the kiss and I could tell that Jack was doing the same.

"Hey faggots, get a room!" I heard someone scream causing my blood to run cold. I pulled away from the kiss and flipped the guy off.

"Go blow your dad, bitch," I screamed. I thought for sure he was going to say something back but he just rolled his eyes and kept walking. Fucking prick.

"Ready to go?" I asked Jack, who was blushing and laughing.

"Totally."

"Here we are guys," our Uber driver, Ellie, said as we pulled into the airport parking lot.

"Thanks!" Jack and I both said in unison before jumping out of the vehicle.

"Wait, before you go, here's my number, give me a call." She handed Jack a piece of paper with her phone number scrawled on it before winking.

"You know, he's taken," I piped up, grabbing Jack's hand protectively.

"Oh yeah, by who?" Ellie asked, chuckling slightly.

"By me, bitch," I said, leaning down to give Jack a quick peck on the lips.

"Uh, whatever." Ellie closed the door and drove off without another word leaving us on the sidewalk in front of the airport.

"Thanks, Finnie." Jack crumpled the piece of paper up and threw it into the nearby trash can.

"Anything for you baby boy."

"Shall we?" Jack asked picking up his luggage.

"We shall."

~~~
"That was the longest fucking flight of my life."
"At least we're home now." I was gathering our luggage from the baggage claim when I saw my mom out of the corner of my eye with a strange man.
"Hey mom," I said after we grabbed our bags and walked over to her.
"Hi Mrs. Wolfhard," Jack said fidgeting his thumbs. He seemed nervous but I wasn't going to bring it up.
"Hey boys." My mom gave us each a hug before introducing us to her new boyfriend Adam. Not to seem rude or anything, but he seemed like an asshat.
"So this is your faggot son and his pussy boyfriend," Adam spoke, slurring his words. I looked at him in shock as my mother just stood there and nodded.
"What the fuck did you just say?" I asked, hoping I heard wrong.
"Finn, language!" my mom said sternly causing me to tense up.
"Did you hear what he just said to us?" I nearly screamed not caring that I sounded like an animal. Jack stood by my side gripping my hand tightly, afraid to let go.
"I was actually talking to your mother, but you're too stupid to understand. Let's go." He pulled my mother by the arm and led her out to the car. Jack and I stood there in silence before reluctantly following behind them.
What the fuck!?
~~~

"What the hell, mom!" I screamed once Adam had left later that night. The three of us were sitting on the couch in the living room watching some lame talk show. "Why would you date him!"

"He seemed like a nice guy when I met him," she whispered so that I could barely hear.

"Well, he's clearly an asshole."

"I know."

"Then why don't you just leave him."

"It's not that easy Finn. You wouldn't understand." Our voices were steadily rising as we spoke, both of us getting more and more heated.

"What do you mean 'it's not that easy Finn'. Just say 'Adam, you are a fucking drunken homophobic asshole who should jump off a cliff and die.' See, easy." She just stared at me blankly, but I could tell that she was holding back a laugh.

"I can't Finn. I'm just trying to protect you."

"Protect me! Protect me!! You're trying to protect me from an asshole by staying with him. Makes perfect sense, if you're insane."

"Please Finn, just let me handle it."

"Whatever," I yelled, tears streaming down my face. I ran up the stairs and into my room, jumping on my bed and burying my face into the pillows. Seconds later, I heard Jack's soothing voice in my ear telling me that everything was gonna be alright, but was it, was it ever gonna be alright?

"It's okay, bubba." Jack's voice echoed throughout the room as he rubbed circles on my back. After a while, my cries finally turned into quiet sniffles.

"I just thought she cared about me Jackie. I thought I could always count on my own mother."

"She does care, Finn. She would never let anything bad happen to you, trust me."

"I don't know about that Jack, I just don't know anymore."

A/N - I know you probably all hate Adam, and I can ensure you it will only get worse ;). The drama has only just begun. Oh, and I think I'm going to kill off a major character soon so stay tuned ;). I have some good plans for the rest of this book. Enjoy!
