7:35
I creep back into my room, the covers still pulled back on my bed the way I left them, and flop onto my bed. I can still feel Ali's arms around me. His arms were so strong and muscular, so protective.
Not knowing what to do with myself while I wait for everyone to get up, I get up and open my blinds. I watch the snow fall, thickening the blanket already covering the ground. The snowflakes fall gently, each one floating down to the earth, seemingly with a purpose. I sit on the edge of my bed and continue to watch the snowfall.
I hear my alarm go off and move to turn it off. I go to the closet and pick out clothes to wear under my snow gear. I put my layers on and return to the window, there is something magical about the snow. It's almost poetic, without any words. It's beautiful.
I hear Shawn's door open and his footsteps follow. He opens my door the tell me to get up, except I'm already up.
"What the heck, your already up?" He says in shock.
"There's a first time for everything bro," I say, in a voice to match his level of surprise.
"Wow," he says backing out of my room and turning around.
I hear him go into Ali's room. "Bro, what the heck, you're up too? Has the world gone mad?" I hear him say.
"Idk bro, maybe," Ali laughs. They head upstairs to get some food, and I move towards the bathroom.
I put my hair in my usual two braids, curl my eyelashes, and add a few swipes of mascara. I attempt to conceal the patches of breakouts on my cheeks, but after a couple layers of concealer, i give up and just blend what I caked on my face out to look a bit more natural.
After I'm happy with my look, I flick off the light and head to my room to get dressed. I decide to wear my black thermal, a sweatshirt from my school, and some sweater leggings. I run, well attempt to run, upstairs to get breakfast.
I grab a bowl and pour myself some cereal. As I eat, I check my Snapchat and scroll through my Instagram. Halfway through my cereal, the boys go back downstairs to get ready.
"Good morning Haley," my dad says, already wearing his snow pants.
"Good morning Dad," I reply as a put my bowl in the dishwasher. "What's the plan for today?"
"I figured we would ski a half day today, and then maybe for the second half of the day go sledding in the backyard? Maybe a snowball fight?"
"Sounds good, do you want me to tell the boys that we are only doing a half day today?"
"Sure, then you can put your stuff in the car, we should be pulling out of the driveway in about 10 minutes."
"Sure thing, I'm pretty much ready to leave, I just need my snow pants and jacket." I walk down the stairs and find Shawn and Ali playing FIFA.
"Sup Haley," Shawn says as he nods in my direction.
"So here's the plan for today. We are going to leave in about 10 minutes. We are only going to ski for a half day, and then for the rest of the day, we can play in the snow and sled and stuff," I tell them.
" Sounds good to me," Ali replies.
"Okay," Shawn says, his eyes still focused on the tiny soccer players on the TV. I grab my mittens, helmet, and jacket and put them in the car. I then jam my legs into my snow pants, jumping to pull them all the way up.
"FIVE MINUTES," I hear my dad yell from upstairs. I go back out to the garage and throw my snowboard into the trunk, they walk back inside picking up my snowboard boots. I watch the guys play FIFA as I put on my boots.
My dad walks downstairs, "Guys, turn off that game and put your stuff in the car, I am ready when you guys are."
The guys shut off the PS4 and went to put their boards and skis in the car. By the time everybody was in the car and ready to go, it was 8:31. We pulled out of the garage and headed towards the mountain.
When we got to the parking lot, it was about 8:46 and the lot were filling up quickly. We ended up parking in a spot that was a little bit far from the chairlift, but it wasn't too bad. When we got out of the car, I put my jacket, helmet, and mittens on. I pulled my board out of the car as I waited for Shawn and my dad to get their ski boots on.
After all of our gear was on, we walked up to the chairlift, but or boards and skis on, and then got in line. The employees scanned our passes and we got on the chair. As we rode up, I pulled my buff over my face, so my face was completely covered by the buff and my goggles. We got off the lift, with no falling.
Ali and I buckled our feet into our snowboards, and then we started down our first run. Today, we all stayed together as a group. We stared on a few blue runs, but then started to do black diamond runs.
After about 4 hours of shredding the mountain, it was 1:00 and we decided to go in for the day. We got to the face of the mountain, and with the new snow in the face, decided to ski down to the bottom, as opposed to taking the lift.
When we got back to the car, we chucked our gear in the back and drove home. We were all ready to take off our heavy snow clothes for a little bit and were pretty hungry from all the skiing and snowboarding we had done.
NOTE: Thank you for all the people who are sticking with me through this unpredictable updating schedule, or lack of schedule. I just hit 1k read which is a huge milestone for me and this story. This chapter was kind of a filler, but the next chapter is going to be really cute(hopefully). Thank you so much for reading! Don't forget to vote and comment!
