When we got back to the house, it was about 4:30. We all lugged our gear into the garage and went inside. "Don't forget to hang up anything that needs to dry and to put wet boots and gloves on the boot dryer," my dad tells us. We wiggle out of our boots and put them on the dryer.
" Where do I hang up my pants Dad?" I ask him.
"Haylee, you're sixteen, I am sure you can figure that out for yourself."
"Ugh, fine," I groan. I go into my room and take off my soaking wet pants, thin sweatpants I was wearing underneath and put on some dry sweats. When you snowboard, you have to sit down to buckle your foot in every time you get off the lift and I fall on my butt a lot so I pretty much have a permanently wet and cold butt. So hence why my pants were soaking.
I changed into a T-shirt and a sweatshirt and then went upstairs to look for food. I started to look for food only to be stopped by my dad. "Have something healthy, like a fruit or a vegetable, we are going to have dinner soon," he says, watching me examine the inside of the refrigerator.
"What are we having for dinner? What time are we going to eat at?" I ask.
"Spaghetti and meatballs. Well, it's 4:50 now so probably around 5:30." Knowing I cannot wait that long, I grab an apple. I finish eating my snack and then go back downstairs. Shawn and Ali were hooking the PS4 that Shawn brought from home up to the TV.
"What are you guys doing?" I ask them, hoping it will be something interesting.
"We are going to play Call of Duty when we get this thing connected," Shawn says while turning on the Play Station. So much for not boring. Well, it would not be so boring if I understood the game, but every time I try to play, I just push random buttons.
I go into my room and grab some pajamas, and then go to my bathroom. I turn on the water and then shout up to my dad. "I AM GETTING IN THE SHOWER," I scream.
"Okay, don't take to long, dinner is almost ready," he shouts back down to me.
I wash my body and shave my legs. Normally, I would not shave my legs, but with Ali here, and the possibility of going in the hot tub, I can not take any chances. I shut off the water, dry myself off, throw on a sports bra and my pajamas, and then head upstairs for dinner.
"Can you set the table?" my dad asks. "Then we are ready to eat."
"Sure," I say to him, getting four bowls out of the cabinet. I set the table and then my dad puts the food on the table.
"Shawn, Ali! Time to eat!" my dad yells down to the boys. I hear the beep signaling the shutdown of the PS4 and then a stampede of footsteps racing up the stairs. I sit next to my dad. Shawn sits across from Dad and next to Ali, meaning Ali was sitting across from me. "Go ahead and serve yourselves guys," my dad says to us as he puts some spaghetti on his plate.
It was quite, except for the sound of forks clicking against the bowls. When we had all finished eating, I asked my dad what the plan was for tomorrow.
"We will probably do the same thing, though we may leave a little earlier because Shawn wants to rent a snowboard for the day," Dad answers.
"Okay sounds like a plan. Can we watch a movie tonight?" I ask my dad with hope in my voice.
"You guys can, I am going to answer some work emails."
The boys had already cleared their plates, gone downstairs, and resumed playing Call of Duty. I could hear them yell at each other. I have never understood why people yell so much while playing video games, it must just get really intense.
I cleared and wiped down the table while my dad started to clean up the kitchen. When I finished cleaning the table, I went downstairs to talk to the guys. "Do you guys want to watch a movie tonight? Dad said we could?"
"Sure. What movie do you want to watch?" Shawn asks.
"Ali, have any suggestions?" I redirect the question to him.
"I don't really care what we watch, I'll watch anything," he replies. Great, that helped so much.
"Well I don't know, one of you guys can pick," I say. We went on like that for 15 minutes and had finally come to a decision of Spider-Man. We all sat on the couch, Ali and I sat on the sides, with Shawn in the middle.
About 20 minutes into the movie, Dad yelled down at us. "I am going to bed, good night guys. Do not stay up too late, Shawn if you want to rent a snowboard, we have to leave about half an hour earlier. We should all plan to be up and out of the house by 7:30"
"Okay Dad, good night, see you in the morning," Shawn shouted up.
"Goodnight Dad, I love you!" I yelled up.
"I love you too Haylee."
"Good night Mr. Fischer," Ali says.
"Goodnight Alistair."
We watch about 10 more minutes of the movie when Ali's phone rings. "Shit sorry guys, I have to take this, I'll be back in a few minutes." I take the time Ali is on the phone to brush my teeth and wash my face. After I get ready for bed, I sat back down next to Shawn and wait. "Okay, I'm back, you can start the movie again. "
"Who was that?" Shawn asks him.
"It was just my older sister, my little sister made her call me so I could say goodnight to her. Then I just talked to Chelsea (older sister) for a bit about today," he says and shrugs. Thinking to myself, I add is cute with his little sister as another reason to like Ali.
By the time we finish watch the movie, it is nearly midnight. "Guys we better get to bed, if you expect to be out of the house by 7:30," I say.
"True, Good night guys," Shawn says as he stretches his arms and yawns. He disappears inside of his room and shuts the door.
"Hey Haylee, is it okay if I shower?" Ali asks.
"Nope, your not aloud. Of course, you can shower. The shower is in there, and I am sure you can figure out how to work it." I say to him. I guess I would share a bathroom with Ali for the next six days. Shawn's bathroom was connected to the room he and my little brother usually shared.
"Oh and you can use the second drawer down to put all of your stuff in. And feel free to use the shampoo in the shower and anything on the sink counter, other than my toothbrush of course," I told him. Other than my toothbrush, how awkward could I be, obviously not my toothbrush? I mentally facepalm.
"Okay good to know. Are there towels in there or..." he trails off.
"Oh um my towels are in there but let me run up and get you a towel," I say. I ran quietly ran upstairs, so I didn't wake my dad, and then came back down with a towel in my hands. "Here ya go," I say handing Ali the towel.
"Thanks."
"If you need anything you know where to find both Shawn and me. Good night Ali, see ya tomorrow morning," I say, turning towards my room.
"Good night Haylee, see ya tomorrow." I close my door and get into bed. I hear the water turn on, and then a little bit later, turn off. It is not the easiest to sleep when you know your crush is in the room next to you. I set my alarm, plug my phone in, close my eyes, and start to drift off to sleep, tiredness getting the best of me.
