Something's Going On

Lunch was the first priority. When we got home, we hung up our jackets and headed straight up to the kitchen. We took turns making sandwiches and then all sat down at the table together. "How are you guys enjoying the trip so far," Dad asked.

"I'm having a great time," I say, looking up from my sandwich and making eye contact with Ali briefly.

"I'm glad to hear it, what about you two?"

"Im having a great trip, I always love skiing," Shawn responds looking over to Ali and giving me a weird look.

"I'm having a blast, I've only ever snowboarded with my family so its really fun to come up with friends," Ali says as he make eye contact with me again. Shawn looks between us again.

"I'm so glad you guys are having such a great time, I was thinking that after lunch maybe you guys could go have a snowball fight or something. And then after dinner we could go see a movie? How does that sound to everybody?"

"Sounds good."

After we finish eating lunch, we put our dishes away. Ali brushes past me as I am putting my dish in the dishwasher. "Sorry," he mumbles. He gives me a look that says, "no I'm not".

"It's okay," I say quietly.

Before we have a snowball fight we all decided to take a little rest before we have to put all of our snow clothes on again.

I head into my bedroom while to guys start up the ps4 to play Fifa. I pick up my book and start reading where I left off. Sucked into my own world, I barely heard the guys screaming over video games and didn't notice the time pass by.

Ali came and nudged open my door. "Haylee?"

I am pulled back into reality. "Yeah?"

"We are about to go outside, wanna come?"

"Oh sure let me just put my snow gear on." I bookmark my page and scramble out of bed. I quickly put my hair in two braids and throw on my beanie and snow pants. I grab my snow jacket before heading outside.

"So how are we gonna do this snowball fight? Two versus one or everyman for himself?" I ask Shawn.

"Um I think it's only fair if we play everyman for himself, what do you guys think?"

"That sounds good to me, Ali?"

Ali nods his head. We each pick a spot to build our forts. "Okay, I say we each get ten minutes to built a fort and to stock up on snowballs." Both the guys agree and we start building.

I start build my wall and with two minutes until the start of the fight, I start to make as many snowballs as I can. When the ten minutes is up, Shawn counts to three and the fight begins.

First, Alistar and I gang up on Shawn. It wasn't to hard to duck all of his shots, since he would alternate throwing between Ali and I. But then I feel a snowball hit me, coming from Ali's direction.

Oh , it is on, I whisper to  myself.

I start to fire snowballs at Ali, I can she his smirk through the flurry of snowballs. The three of us continue to hurdle snow at each other until we are all soaking wet and exhausted.

We head inside and strip off our heavy snow clothes. I head straight for the shower. I stand under the scalding hot water for as long as I can. Well at least until I felt bad for wasting water.  I get out and wrap myself in a towel. I take a deep breath. I have to walk past Ali, only in a towel.

I crack the bathroom door open to see Ali sitting on the couch. On his phone, alone. I hear the other shower running. Shawn must be in the shower, I think to myself. I full open the door and walk out. I see Ali look up from his phone.

We make eye contact, both of refusing to quit first and look away. He has a small smile on his lips. I make it to my bedroom, and as I walk in I drop my towel just enough to expose the majority of my back, but still concealing my butt. I turn, see Ali's eye go wide and meet mine, and shut my door.

When I am done getting dressed for the movies, I sit on my bed and wait for Ali to get out of the shower. When I hear the water turn off I was on the couch, watching Shawn play Fifa. I get up when I hear the bathroom door open. Ali walks out with his towel around his waist, water droplets still covering his chest and back.

I walk past him into the bathroom and shut the door. I swallow hard and take a deep breath. He has to be messing with me. I feel like he's been flirting with me all day but I don't want to give myself false hope. My towel did slip, and instead of looking away he did look at me suggestively, so I don't know.

Was I doing to much, only so much can happen before Shawn notices. I snap out of my thoughts and blow-dry my hair. After my hair is dry, I unplug the hairdryer and start to do some light makeup. Then I hear Shawn ask Ali something that makes me freeze in my tracks.

"Bro, is something going on between you and Haylee? You guys have been acting weird all day"

"Dude, nothing is going on, why would you say that?" I breath a sigh of relief, the last thing I need right now is Shawn jumping on my back.

"Then what was with all the silent eye contact between you guys at lunch, and her staring after you got out of the shower, and all of the lingering eyes between you?"

"Shawn, you're tripping, nothing is happening. Don't make something out of nothing."

I hear my dad call us up for dinner. "I'll meet you up their Shawn, I just wanna do something real quick." I quickly finish my make up and when I hear Shawn go up the stairs, I come out to the bathroom.

Ali is staring at me as I walk out of the bathroom. "What?" I ask.

"You know I lied right?" he says, stepping closer to me.

I swallowed. "Lied? Lied about what?"

"I know you hear that conversation with Shawn, don't play dumb."

"Okay, yeah I heard the whole thing, but what do you mean you lied?"

"Is that a serious question, like you actually have no idea what I could have possibly lied about?" He moves closer to me, now there was only two feet of space between us.

"Dinner, guys get up here."

"Shawn's yelling, wouldn't want him to come down here would we?" I say, the beginnings of a smile on my mouth.

"So you don't know what I lied about?"Ali asks again, closing the space between us. I back up into his room, so if Shawn came down the stairs he wouldn't see us.

"Well, I might have vague idea about what you lied about," I say, leaning against his wall.

Again, he closes the space between us. He leans in, and his lips brush my ear, "I lied. There is definitely something going on between us Haylee." I freeze again, not sure what to say or do. My wildest dreams were coming g true. I swallow again.

He pulls away a little bit to make eye contact, and then whispers, "we better go before Shawn gets suspicious."

"Yeah," I manage to breath out. As he lifts away from my ear, his body presses mine against the wall, and his lips hover above mine. But before I could unfreeze enough to lean in and kiss him, he turns away and runs upstairs.

I stand there for a minute, leaning against the wall, trying to wrap my head around what just happened. I take a deep breath to calm my racing heart and run upstairs to go eat dinner.

Note: I know it's been a really long time since I have updated this story, but I just had not found the inspiration to write the next part until now. I am going to try to update more often, since I am on winter break. Thank you guys for sticking with me and for reading this part. Next chapter they are all going to the movies, so that should be interesting! Don't forget to vote and leave me a comment!
