Chapter Six
Annalissa's POV
I quickly grabbed the two mugs of coffee that were on the counter and walked into the living room, sitting down Alex's coffee on a coaster. I sipped on the coffee in my mug and took a deep breath of air, trying to brace myself for what was about to be said. "When I met Noah, I thought I had found someone I was going to spend the rest of my life with." I began, trying to not cry for the twentieth time that day. "He was perfect, not at all what you guys make him out to be." I pulled the light sweater I had closer to my chest trying to get some comfort from it. "He was so carefree, adventurous..He loved me. I know he did." I whispered. "You don't look at someone, the way he did and not love them. He would hold me like I was a precious gem that would break if you touched it." I half smiled. " He made me feel like no one ever had before. He made me feel alive." Alex was looking at me with so much sympathy, it kind of threw me off. "I knew he was a Reaper, and I did not care, because I loved him too."
"So what happened? Why did you leave, if you loved him so much?" Alex looked genuinely curious, as he laid a happy Athena on her mat on the floor so she could play with her toys.
"One day, He was taking a shower, and I was going to get some things out of my suitcase and his phone went ballistic." my mood started to turn dark as I thought about the haunting memories that were resurfacing. "There were ten texts from a woman named Wendy." I explained. "All her texts were basically pleading with him to talk to her, it was about Bobby. Of course at the time I did not know that Bobby was-is his son." I rushed out. I was trying to rip it off like a band aid so it would not hurt, but it still felt fresh. "I called the number back, because I just assumed Bobby was a family member or one of the guys from the club, but it turns out it was worse." I fake laughed. "Wendy, his wife answered the phone and handed me my ass. Apparently, Bobby his five year old kept asking for him wondering why his daddy left and has not called him in over six days. I was so disgusted with myself I hung up." I gave Alex a look that conveyed what I was trying to get across. "The next thing I knew, I threw on some random clothes, grabbed my shit and left." I could still remember the last time I had saw Noah and how his beautiful smile made me get goosebumps. "That was the last time I saw Noah, he did not call me or text me or ever try to find me. I figured Wendy told him she knew about me and made him choose, and of course he chose his family."
"When did you find out about Athena?" Alex asked.
"Two months after the whole incident, I was sick or so I thought. Mom insisted I go to the doctors, she thought I might have the flu. I did, too. Never once did I think I was pregnant." I answered honestly. "I had my period on time, we were careful. Once we got to the doctors he said I was negative for the flu, but it could be a virus just let it run its course. " I fake laughed. "Of course the virus never ran its course and I vomited everyday for two weeks. Enough was enough and we went back to the doctors. They took blood samples and found that I was pregnant, two months and two weeks pregnant." I twisted my sleeve to my sweater in my hands as I told the story I had promised myself I would forever keep a secret. "I told everyone it was a one night stand, but it was not. I figured everyone would be more disappointed if I told them I slept with a married Reaper, I guess I was right in some aspect." I joked humorlessly. "I racked my head for weeks trying to figure out if I should call Noah or not. I did not want to break up his family more than I had. My child needed to be first, I was not taking second best. So I swore to keep her father a secret and her a secret from her father. No one needed to know, and I was positive that I would never see him again."
"Clearly you were wrong." Alex said in a duh voice.
"Clearly!" I dryly laughed as I tucked a piece of my hair behind my ear. I took careful sips of my dangerously hot coffee. We sat in a comfortable silence, while we watched Athena gleefully suck on her toy keys. "What are you going to do now?" Alex asked the million dollar question.
"I am planning on telling him. I know now that I can't keep it from him, but do I have to do it so soon?"
"It's completely up to you," he stated, but I knew there was a but coming along, "but the longer you wait the angrier Sin will be when he finds out." Once again my big brother was right and I was not even going to deny it. "When did you become so wise, mister?" I joked.
"Always have been. No one likes to listen to me though." I laughed as he smirked. He glanced down at his phone, which had been lighting up continuously for the last ten minutes. A frown took over his face as he answered it. I could hear the commotion coming from the other end, but could not comprehend it. Alex's frowned morphed into a look of anger as he muttered that he would be right there, before hanging up the phone. "Put some shoes on, I will get Athena's bag. Hurry!" I didn't question him as I ran to my room and grabbed my flip flops. I took off down the hallway to see him with Athena in her car seat wide awake. I grabbed her diaper bag from him as we sprinted to the elevator. Little did I know that I was walking into my worst nightmare.
