The scariest moment is always just before you start - Stephen King
I woke up before my alarm went off. This is rare because it's rare that I wake up before the alarm and usually I had to snooze a few times before I wake up. I checked the time, 6:30AM.
Great, now I have another 2 hours before I go to work.
I brushed my teeth and put on my sweater and boots. I went out to the rooftop just stare at the cityscapes. I rarely wake up before the sunrise but it seemed as if today was the start of a new chapter of mine. Standing on the rooftop today made me realised how much I have missed home and the warm weather back in Malaysia. The crisp air blew into my face, making me shiver and hug myself.
Note to self: next time, if there's any, check the time for sunrise before coming out.
It was chilly and well, the weather has gotten colder as the months passed by. Sunrise. The beams of sunlight shined behind the high rise buildings as if the sun was announcing its arrival for the day. The sun slowly rose up with the mist as its cloak to keep the sun semi hidden before fully announcing the day has begun.
It was at that moment, I realised I have never seen a sunrise in Seoul even though I have been here for 3 years. I've always loved the sunrise back in my country, studying in Seoul and enjoying the nightlife here has made me forgot how much I love the nature and the joy of being an early bird. My thoughts were interrupted by my alarm and I went into the bathroom to get ready for work today.
After shower, I put on my jeans, a pastel pink loose blouse and a cardigan. I put on my socks and tucked in the front of my blouse but not the back. I put on some simple makeup and combed my hair before putting on my Adidas superstar as I went out. I grab my coat and my bag before I locked my door.
I usually skip breakfast but my gut feelings told me otherwise. I went down to the nearby bakery to grab something to eat before heading to work. I had a strawberry muffin and kept one for later when I'm hungry. Took the bus and listened to BTS's YNWA album all the way to work. I always loved their songs because those songs made me feel so alive and hyper.
I reached the office, 8:30AM. I still have some time, should I go there early? Despite going back and forth with my thoughts about going early to work, I ended up going to work early and managed to bump into Manager Hobeom at the front gate. He told the security to let me in and gave me a visitor pass because I did not have my company pass yet. He gave me a tour of the company since there weren't many people at this hour. He showed me around and gave me a gist of my job description. Turns out, I had to translate BTS's videos that they upload to Youtube.
He showed me the dance practice room, the cafeteria, the office and also CEO Bang's office. He wasn't in the office because he was on some overseas trip for business. Manager Hobeom introduced me to the stylists and the makeup artists of BTS. People started coming into the company, I met the choreographer, Mr. Son, and greeted the dancers of BTS. Manager Hobeom then left me to do the translating in the office as he has some schedule check with Manager Sejin and BTS.
Of all the people that I should have met, I didn't get to meet BTS. Great. I sighed inwardly.
As I did my work, Jaeyoon, the stylist, asked if I could help him with some style choices for the upcoming events. After helping him, I asked if I could sit near his workplace instead of by my table because I was getting really lonely. I worked beside Jaeyoon and I became good friends with Jaeyoon and Hyeri, the makeup artist.
I found out that they have tonnes of mood boards for all the outfits that match with each performance. Each of the mood boards had 7 columns, each column for each member with their names and faces on top. They also put swatches of hair colours and makeup inspirations for the performance and the outfit ideas onto the board. I never knew there was so much to plan for outfits until I saw this. Now we know why BTS's outfits are always on point! Did I mention that they also had to redo the outfits when they don't compliment each other during the fitting session? I was thankful for their work, because of their hardwork, Armies get to admire BTS in beautiful outfits.
