Chapter 18: I'm going to kill Jared!

I don't know what time it was when I woke up but it was pretty dark out.
Jared was not in the car but his leather jacket had covered my upper body, protecting me from the cold.
I didn't remember taking it from him, so he must've put it on me while I was asleep.
I smiled thinking how nice it was that he did that but then I caught myself.
Jared never did anything nice. He probably had a hidden agenda behind the kind gesture, he always did.
I pulled the jacket off me and wore it, zipping it up to the top.
I was laughing at how the large jacket had swallowed me when I heard a noise coming from the roof of the car and I paused, my eyes widening as I went into freak out mode.
Gathering a little courage, I decided to check out what it was.
I opened the door and leaned outward, tilting my head backwards as I stared up at the roof of the car.
I gave a sigh of relief as I saw it was just Jared sitting on it.
I got out of the car, glancing at Jared who was sat, crossed legged on the car roof, staring at the billions of stars shinning in the sky. They were beautiful.
"You're awake." Jared said, not taking his eyes off the sky.
"Sadly, yes." I replied, gazing up to appreciate the beauty of the sky at night.
I'd always loved staring up at the stars, they made me feel safe whenever I felt alone and I felt pretty safe right now.
I walked to the front of the car and hopped onto the hood, laying my back on the windscreen and pulling my feet close to my butt.
"Twinkle, twinkle little star
How I wonder what you are
Up above the world so high
Like a diamond in the sky—" My singing was interrupted by Jared's laughter."Really?" He continued to laugh. "You wake up from hours of sleeping and this is the first thing you do?"
I glanced up at him, chuckling at how weird his face looked upside down.
"Says the boy who used to sing that song every night before he went to bed." I snorted at the memory and Jared pouted.
"Hey! I was a little kid, don't judge me!"
"You sang that until we were twelve. Justify that." I pointed out and his eyes widened as he glanced upwards into the sky.
"Shooting star!" He pointed into the sky and my eyes snapped up but I didn't see anything. "Ha! Made you look!"
