Eliza POV
I wake up and roll over onto what would usually be Alex's chest, but he wasn't in bed. I figure he went downstairs. I swear if he got more Cracker Barrel. I go downstairs in my pajamas and see my sisters. I screamed because Peggy jumped out in front of me.
"Jeez Louise Peggy!" I scream at her.
"Happy wedding day!!!" She responds giving me a hug.
"Is Angelica here too?" I ask her hoping she is. I know she isn't Alex's biggest fan, but I hope she is supportive.
"Happy wedding day Eliza!" Angelica yells as she leaves the bathroom.
"I wanted to be here when we surprised you, but SOMEONE didn't wait for me!" She yelled looking at Peggy.
"Oh I couldn't wait! This is the only wedding us sisters have been bridesmaids for each other!" She told us defensively.
It was true too. Both Angelica and Peggy had eloped. Peggy eloped because her husband Steven is two years younger than her, and she was afraid our father would never approve. Angelica eloped with her husband John Church because she was afraid our father wouldn't approve of their marriage. She was afraid that he would say no because my family does not like John. I'm not his biggest fan, but I would have loved to see my sister walk down the isle. I am the only daughter my father will ever walk down the isle. My parents offered to pay for EVERYTHING. I tried to object, but they pushed because my mom wants this wedding to make up for the two she did not get to plan or attend. I eventually gave up. We also could not afford the wedding my parents are paying for and I am forever grateful. We sit at the table and sit start eating. Then, Titus walks in and is so happy. Then, Martha, George, and my parents walk in. Of course Angelica's kids are there too. Phillip walks in and is slightly emo.
"I'll be on the porch," he announces.
"Phillip I swear," my mother yells.
They argue about how my mother is not going to let him ruin my day, but in all honesty why didn't I just elope?!
Angelica, Peggy, and I go to my room and work on my makeup. My mom comes in slightly frustrated.
"You ok mom?" I ask her.
""You're brother is going through a phase!" She yells in distress.
"Well I'm sure it is nothing," Angelica tells her.
"So Peggy, how's work?" My mother asks.
"It's good! The kids are really sweet! I love teaching them." She tells us with a smile.
"Good! And you Angelica?" My mother asks now focusing towards Angelica.
"It's great! I have a women's rights march coming up and I'm speaking at a university next month," she tells us.
"Eliza how about you sweetie?"
"Good, I am really happy with my job. I love helping woman through labor." I tell her.
"Now I know John and Stephen are happy with their jobs, what's up with your soon to be husband?" She inquires. My mom LOVES Alex. He treats me right and he didn't want to elope, neither did I, that's my moms favorite part.
"He's great! George has a job offer for him. He said he really wants to take it, but the hours are kind of long." I tell her.
"I'm sure you two will make it work. You're jobs are both very time demanding."
"My work is great! I am home in time for the kids to get off the bus, and John is home by 6! Alex should take notes."
"Angelica" my mother sternly warned her.
"I'm just saying,"
"I like Alex!" Peggy tells us and she looks at Angelica.
"I'm not saying I don't I'm just saying he's not the greatest guy in the world. Also not the richest either." She tells Peggy.
"Angelica stop," Peggy warns.
"I am just saying I don't think he and Eliza will be married long, he will probably cheat or something," she tells us.
"Shut up!" I yell.
"Eliza I'm just say my opinion that's what I'm fighting for!" She yells back defensively.
"I don't give a damn about you opinion! This is MY wedding day and I need to have a good day! I didn't decide to elope because mom and dad actually LIKE my fiancé! Also there is plenty I could say about John if you want, but I don't because I care about your feelings! If you have an issue with my fiancé you have an issue with me! You can either shut up and be supportive or walk out and miss my big day!" I yell near tears.
"Eliza I-"
"Don't" I tell her running out to the porch.
"Give her a minute" my dad tells my family.
After 10 minutes I hear the porch door open.
"Angelica I don't want to talk about this quit yet. I need some time-"
"I'm not Angelica,"
I turn around and it's Phillip. My baby brother going brought a phase. I hug him and cry.To be continued.......
