Scott had been more cute and flirty than usual the whole walk to Starbucks and it was driving Mitch crazy because all he wanted to do was drag him back to his house and make out with his stupid face until they were both out of their minds; but that would be a very bad thing to do! If he didn't know better, Mitch would think Scott was doing all of this on purpose.
Scott pulled his hand out of his pocket and threw his arm around Mitch's shoulder, looking down at him with a smile, his gorgeous blue eyes twinkling. "What?" Mitch knew he was blushing and he honestly didn't care, Scott was being all affectionate and it was going to be the death of him if he didn't cut it out. "Why are you looking at me like that Sarah?"
Scott rolled his eyes at the nickname, "I dunno Michelle, you're just really attractive." There it was again. That damn smirk. Irritating, funny, stupid, freakishly attractive Sasquatch! Why was he doing this? Mitch knew they had always been super close but this whole thing was too much.
"Stop it, pretty sure you're the attractive one." Mitch tried his hardest to be normal but it was getting harder. They finally separated as Scott held the door open for Mitch, "Thanks bae." He couldn't help but grin, Scott was truly a gentleman. As they walked up to the counter Mitch could feel Scott's eyes on him and he was loving it.
"Go sit down, I already know what you want and I'm not letting you pay for anything." Mitch knew arguing wasn't going to change Scott's mind so he just rolled his eyes and found them a table by the window, he sat and admired his friend as he talked to the barista.
If it had been anyone other than Scott, Mitch would be all over him; trying to get him to at least go on one date... but it was Scott. His best friend Scott, the one who deserved something that Mitch would never be able to give. No matter how hard he tried to rationalize them being together he just wasn't good for Scott.
Scott walked over to their table and smiled at Mitch, "you look like something's on your mind, what's up buttercup?" he said with a small smile. Here was another reason they would be good for each other, Scott knew him. Scott could tell when something was wrong and he knew just how to make Mitch feel better.
"First off, Buttercup?" Mitch said with a raised eyebrow and Scott just shrugged, "It's nothing really, just a lot on my mind." It wasn't a lie, there was a lot on his mind... it just all happened to center around Scott but he didn't need to know that little fact. "I really don't want to have to go to school tomorrow because everyone is probably going to know what happened between me and Kirstie." Mitch voiced another one of his fears, knowing that it would keep Scott from questioning everything else.
"Oh Mitchie, it'll be fine. You still have me, you will always have me, and maybe you and Kirstie can talk things out and still be friends. It'll all work out, I promise." Mitch just smiled as a guy came over with their drinks. He was actually kinda cute, nowhere near Scott cute but his smile was precious.
He placed a cup in front of Scott before turning to Mitch and smiling, "and one for you cutie." He winked at Mitch and walked away, leaving Mitch and Scott to look at each other and wonder what had just happened. Was another attractive guy flirting with him? Maybe this guy would be his chance to move on from Scott... but could he really handle being in a relationship with a guy so soon after he figured out he was gay?
"Look at the side of your cup." Scott said, sounding really pissed off. As Mitch looked at his cup he realized that the guy had scribbled his name and number on the side of the cup... Travis. Mitch and Scott sat there in silence drinking their coffee and Mitch couldn't help but stare at Scott.
