"We have a new student," Mrs. Carlee spoke, gathering the attention of her class.
"Hi, I'm Travis," the white-haired boy spoke, waving at his new classmates. He was eager to make new friends.
He noticed a few girls checking him out but ignored them. What caught his eye was the boy sitting in the back corner, eyes trained on his desk. There was even an empty desk next to him.
Travis took confident strides down the isles of desks and sat down next to the black-haired male.
"Hi," Travis spoke smoothly, wanting to make a good first impression. The other male glanced up from the paper he was doodling on and gazed at the boy in front of him.
"Hello," his voice was deeper than Travis expected. He liked it. He also realized how stunning this boy's blue eyes were.
"I'm Travis."
"Wow, thanks. I didn't catch that," Zane's words dripped with sarcasm. Travis' smirk only grew wider.
"What's your name?" He finally asked, deciding getting straight to the point would be the best way to approach this.
"Why do you care?" Zane shot back, glaring. When Travis pouted, the raven-haired boy's glare faltered momentarily.
"Fine. I'll just call you my boyfriend then," Travis replied smoothly, winking.
"Yeah no thanks," Zane said, somewhat nervous. He's never dated anyone before and he didn't know how to handle being flirted with. "My friends call me Zane."
"What does everyone else call you?" Travis was trying to be funny and didn't expect the response he got.
"Fag, mostly." Zane shrugged. It was no big deal to him anymore. At least, that's what he told himself.
"I think I'll stick with Zane," Travis mumbled.
"Does that make us friends?" Zane's voice sounded small and hopeful. He didn't want to sound like that. He wanted to sound strong and... like Garroth. Like he was able to take on the world.
"Yes. It does."
