*Sam's P.O.V.* Outside Kylee's house...
The car ride was eerily quiet. The only sounds that you'd hear were Kylee's occasional sniffle and me heavily breathing. Kylee hadn't uttered a word since we left the parking of the school, and I was afraid of pushing for a conversation.
Kylee grabbed her keys out of her pocket and reached out to unlock the front door. She was shaking then dropped the keys. She slowly reached down then fell to her knees sobbing.
"I'm such an idiot!"
I hugged her and rubbed her back. "No, you're not. You're the smartest person I know."
Kylee continued to cry into my chest. Her sobbing was the loudest I'd ever heard her cry.
"It's alright. It's alright, Kylee." I heard footsteps and looked up to see Matt.
He mouthed, "What happened?"
I rolled my eyes, and mouthed, "You. So talking to her right now wouldn't be good. Go home, Matt."
He hesitated for a bit then sighed.
"Sam," Kylee looked up at me. "Thank you for being here for me. I don't know what I'd do without you." She smiled with tears in her eyes.
"It's no problem. I care about you too much to see you cry." I wiped away her tears. "You're too cute to cry." I smiled at her. I looked up, and Matt was drawing close to us.
He mouthed,"I know what I'm doing." He came behind Kylee and wrapped his arms around her.
Her eyes widened. "What?"
"Shh. It's just me, Kylee." Matt picked Kylee up making her stand. He slightly kissed her neck.
"Matt! Stop..." Kylee was tense then relaxed into Matt's embrace.
I smiled picking up Kylee's keys then standing up.
"I'm so sorry, Kylee... I never meant to hurt you. I just was trying to do what I thought was best..." Matt sighed. "But I never thought to ask you for help or what you wanted."
Kylee sniffled. "You're a real idiot, Matt." She turned facing Matt. "But you're my idiot."
I smiled then felt my phone vibrate. I pulled it out to see that May was calling me. "I'll be back guys. I've gotta take this." I walked over to Kylee's car and leaned against it.
I answered. "Hey Babe. Are you alright?"
May sniffled. "Sam, I can't take this anymore. Matt needs-"
"He already did, Babe. I'm looking at him and Kylee kiss right now."
"What? So he got her back?"
I nodded smiling. "Mhm."
"That's a relief... Shes not upset with me about what happened right?"
"I doubt it. Kylee's not like that."
"Alright."
There was a silence.
"Hey Babe, have you by any chance talked to a guy named Benjamin?"
May was silent then exhaled. "Yes. I did a few days ago. Why?"
"Babe. What did you talk to him about? What did he ask? What did-"
"Samantha! Chill. We just went to get coffee. He saw that I was stressed out, and he let me vent to him. He just listened to me as I rambled, and it lifted some of the bricks that had been weighing down my shoulders. Why?"
I exhaled. "He was the guy Kylee was dating. Though apparently he was using her." I heard May gasp.
"I'm sorry Sam! I didn't know. I-"
"It's okay, Babe." I looked at Matt and Kylee. They were just talking, and Kylee was laughing and smiling.
"Are you okay, Sam?" Worry filled May's voice.
"Yeah. I just think that something's really weird."
"Why do you say that?"
"Benjamin gave up on Kylee way too easily."
"Well, you never know maybe he fell for her, but thought that giving her up was his only option because of his past."
My eyes widened. "May. I think you're right. I need to talk to him..."
"He gave me his phone number to talk to him again if I ever needed to."
"Cool. invite him out for coffee, and we'll both go." I looked at Matt and Kylee again.
"There's just too many holes in this story..."
